《苦菜花》以抗日战争时期胶东半岛昆嵛山区王官庄为背景，以仁义嫂及其一家的际遇为中心线索，从一个侧面反映了中国共产党领导下的抗日根据地军民在反扫荡中所进行的英勇斗争：抗日游击队终结了汉奸、大地主王唯一对王官庄的统治，成立了抗日民主政权。王唯一之子王竹当上伪军中队长，充当日寇扫荡战中凶恶的刽子手，成为王官庄人民的死对头。王唯一的侄子王柬芝伪装进步，骗取抗日民主政权的信任，潜伏下来从事特务活动。在侵略者与汉奸、地主这两种势力明明暗暗的勾结下，王官庄人民的抗日斗争变得更加复杂和残酷——七子夫妇双双受难、至死不屈；农村妇女花子牺牲丈夫去挽救八路军干部；因为坚持抗日杏莉被汉奸“父亲”残忍杀害……小说鲜明地表现了根据地人民不屈不挠的战斗精神，并在中国当代文学史上第一次成功塑造了仁义嫂这位普通而感人的革命母亲的艺术形象。

Author Description

冯德英，1935年生于山东乳山市，1949年1月参加中国人民解放军，历任学员、报务员、电台台长、专业创作员。1980年转业回山东工作，历任济南市文联主席，山东省作家协会主席，中国作家协会主席团委员，济南市、青岛市政协副主席，山东省文联名誉主席等职。1958年1月出版处女作长篇小说《苦菜花》，其后主要作品有：长篇小说《迎春花》、《山菊花》、《染血的土地》、《晴朗的天空》，《冯德英中短篇作品选》，电影文学剧本《女飞行员》等。作品被译为俄、日、英、朝、越、蒙、罗等多国文字出版。
