《贾平凹长篇小说典藏大系：白夜》贾平凹小说大多描写的是一群社会最基层的卑微的人，是一些琐碎小事。贾平凹在坚实的“事实”基础上表述“看法”，使小说更显力度，又使故事不单一，充分展现时代和社会的大背景，以及在这浓重的大背景下聚光照耀两人爱情之舞。他坚持形式传统的，平实的，而作品境界上则是现代的，人类的写法，人生的苍凉，故事的浑然，留给我们的是对这国家和民族曾经的苦难的咀嚼和对生命之花绚丽的赞歌。

Author Description

贾平凹（1952～），当代作家，原名贾平娃。陕西丹凤人。1975年西北大学中文系毕业后任陕西人出版社文艺编辑、《长安》文学月刊编辑。1982年后从事专业创作。任中国作家协理事、作协陕西分会副主席等职。著有小说集《兵娃》、《姐妹本纪》、《山地笔》、《野火集》、《商州散记》、《小月前本》、《腊月·正月》、《天狗》、《晚唱》、《贾平凹获奖中篇小说集》、《贾平凹自选集》，长篇小说《商州》、州河》、《浮躁》、《废都》、《白夜》，自传体长篇《我是农民》等。散文集月迹》、《心迹》、《爱的踪迹》、《贾平凹散文自选集》、诗集《空白》以及《平文论集》等。他的《腊月·正月》获中国作协第3届全国优秀中篇小说奖；《满月》获1978年全国优秀短篇小说奖。他于1988年获美国飞马文学奖。1997年获法国女评外国文学奖。贾平凹小说描写新时期西北农村，特别是改革开放后的变革，视野开，具有丰富的当代中国社会文化心理内蕴，富于地域风土特色，格调清新隽永，明自然。

Book Abstract

一日，南丁山的师父，那个鸡皮鹤首的丑老脚，替了鼓板师，拿出总纲，让各行当分抄单角脚本，限定了在三日内抄完，自个又去着人做行头、纸扎，市政府却通知他去平仄堡吃宴席。丑老脚纳闷：我这下九流的人物，哪里受得了市政府吃请？将一身衣裤熨得平整，又着了一双黑平绒休闲软鞋，去了才得知是台湾来了一位巨商在西京投资，市政府设宴款待，特召了一些各界名家来作陪的。等得那台商到了餐厅，丑老脚不看则已，看了脸面顿时变色，故意做出个喷嚏出来，唾沫鼻涕喷了一桌，退出来就回家了。原来三十多年前丑老脚还是个毛头小伙，同此人一道保家卫国去朝鲜作战，一次战斗中被俘，在战俘营里他们预谋着逃跑，此人中途告密，逃跑计划只得提前，结果仅仅逃出三人。但千辛万苦地逃回来，竟被审查得没完没了，只好窝在剧院里演个丑角，学打鼓板，而此人则去了台湾，现在却是座上宾的设宴招待了。丑老脚一口气咽不下，人就病倒了，一病竟又不能起，戏班人都很焦急，推迟了排演鬼戏，吆喝着去给丑老脚冲喜。
小小的四合庭院，围了两张方桌吹打唱吟，挨过三个时辰，后边屋里喊：“人不行了！”鼓乐停止，人都往后跑去。夜郎那日学着敲板，竹棍儿总敲不准那一点空猪皮，被众人谑笑了，以敲碗替代铃铛——当下也跑去看了。丑老脚腹胀如鼓，吐了半盆鲜血。南丁山急催夜郎去通知师叔。师叔也是丑角，正在对面街上坐饭馆。师兄师弟二人一生爱吃羊肉泡馍，每日一顿去饭馆，把掰好的馍蛋送锅上煮了，又买了新馍来掰，煮馍端来，新馍掰完，吃毕带回，赶明日再来送上馍蛋又掰新的馍。夜郎说了情况，师叔已等不及煮馍做好，当下用纱布包了新掰的馍蛋过来，一条腿跪于床下，拱了拳，高声说：“哥吔，真的吃不动啦？！”师父要摇头，已摇不动，头从枕头这边翻到枕头那边。师叔再说：“喝不动啦？！”师父的头从枕头那边又翻过枕头这边。师叔又说：“也唱不动啦？！”师父头不翻了，挣挣巴巴伸了手，也在下巴下拱个拳，那么难看地一笑，眼球就翻上去死了。一时人哭，师叔把那包馍蛋放在师父的脖下，招呼人分头发丧，办理后事，戏班不再吟唱《小宴》，一声几的唢呐吹打开了《逼霸》。
到了晚上，灵堂设起，两把纸伞挂在院门垴上，十二丈的白缦黑纱在院空拉扯了三道，戏班全体人员都戴孝磕头，上香，奠酒，哽哽咽咽地在当院烧化纸钱——要开鬼路了。夜郎没有见过这阵势，也不懂开鬼路的曲牌，只屈了腿儿用柳树棍儿翻动烧纸。南丁山诸人各持了锣鼓，一面敲打，一面绕了灵堂转，一面就唱了起来：
锵哩哐，锵哩哐，哐，哐。人活在世上算什么？说一声死了就死了，亲戚朋友都不知道。锵哩哐，锵哩哐，哐，哐。亲戚朋友知道了，亡人已过奈何桥。奈何桥三寸来宽万丈的高，中间抹着花油胶。大风吹来摇摇摆，小风吹来摆摆摇。有福的亡人桥上过，无福的亡人打下桥。锵哩哐，锵哩哐，哐，哐。亡人过了奈何桥，阴间阳间路两条。锵哩哐，锵哩哐，哐，哐。日子过得这么的好，你为什么死得这样早？！
夜郎“扑哧”笑了一下，怕人发觉，忙低头将柳棍儿在纸灰上一戳，没想火“嘭”地腾上来，红红的纸灰落了一身一头，烧没烧着，却把眼窝眯了。这当儿，院门口有人一透一透，一粒小石子就打着了坐在条凳上的康炳，康炳回头看看，两人打一阵手语，康炳就过来小声对夜郎说：“人找哩。”夜郎说：“谁个？”康炳说：“这么晚了还能是谁？”夜郎抬头看了，颜铭半个脸在门缝处，正冲他笑。低头说道：“可不敢胡说，人家是正经主儿。”出来拉颜铭走到门外灯影处。原来颜铭租居的房子就在对面街上，白日里请了气功师为祝一鹤治病，天黑了招待人家在前边素菜店里吃饭，听得戏班在这里开鬼路，气功师提出要见见夜郎，颜铭就来了。夜郎问：“效果怎么样？”颜铭说：“气功师发功，总问祝老有感觉没，祝老口不能说，只摇头，我看也是不行的。”夜郎说：“敢情是个混混客？大医院都治不了，气功有什么用？你总不听我的！”颜铭说：“气功是老传统的，他说包给他了，病多重的人他都治好了的。”夜郎说：“西医推，中医吹，老传统的那些门道，禀性里没有不吹大话！”——“啪！”在脸上打了一下，手往光亮处展展，上边一个稀烂的蚊子，用指头弹了。颜铭就说：“不管怎样，人家没有功劳也有苦劳，你还是去打个照面的好。”夜郎不去。颜铭说：“你硬是不去，那也罢了……还有个事不知该不该对你说——你要生气，我就不说了。”夜郎说：“已经是死猪了还怕烫水？”颜铭说：“官长兴着人送来十元钱，说是你未领的午餐补助费……这不是要恶心人吗？你不会生气吧？”夜郎说：“我肚子疼。”颜铭立即紧张了，说：“都怪我多了嘴！哪儿疼的？你吁吁气，夜郎，吁吁气或许就好了。”慌手慌脚地竞来给他揉。夜郎也不推辞，甚至还挺了挺肚子。那只手就匀着在肚上揉，三揉两不揉的，就碰着了一根硬东西，吓了一跳，说：“你有的？！”夜郎笑着，小声说：“我也只有它啦！”颜铭举了拳头就在夜郎的胸上捶，说：“你坏蛋！你骗子！你真会骗我！”用手去打了一下，低低骂句“流氓”，却说：“你不生气我好高兴的……你倒有这兴劲儿？”夜郎说：“你不是要让我高兴吗？”颜铭说：“你要高兴，你是要高兴的！”夜郎一下子将她搂起来，唇咬开了唇，两人都静下来，鼻孔和鼻孔出着粗气。“嘭”的一声，院墙里腾起一团火来，一定是谁用柳棍戳翻一下焚烧的纸，灿烂的礼花般的灰屑从墙里飞飘过来，颜铭急把身子躲在夜郎腋下。但灰屑落下来再无光亮，颜铭睁着惊恐的眼．浑身打了一个哆嗦。开路歌唱完了，一段一段的孝歌在鼓乐中又唱。夜郎说：“别怕，没什么可怕的。”的确没什么可怕的。颜铭说：“你去吧，你快去吧……你要真需要我，戏班的事完了，你到我那儿去……我得到饭店呀。”说毕，一边理着头发，一边就匆匆走了。
