Content Description

本书收集了张友鸾先生根据中国古典戏曲故事撰写的七部中篇说部。包括《十五贯》，《魔合罗》、《救风尘》等。这些作品在20世纪50年代至80年代间，曾在上海《新民晚报》上连载；现在将七部作品汇编成一集，是为《中国古典戏曲故事七篇》。

Author Description

张友鸾（1904-1990），字悠然，笔名悠悠、牛布衣、草厂、傅逵，安徽安庆人。中国知名报人，先后担任《国民晚报》社长、南京《民生报》、上海《立报》和《新民报》总编辑，创办《南京早报》、《南京人报》等。1953年，奉调北京人民文学出版社，从事古典文学研究、整理及编著工作。

《中国古典戏曲故事七篇/张友鸾作品系列》：
赛霸王一、投师清代康熙年间，在苏州甪（lu）直镇地方，有一个人，姓陈名唤明智。这人家世务农，出身穷苦，却从小就爱唱昆曲。遇存戏班来到镇上串演，不管风雨寒暑，道途远近，他都赶了去看。看了就学，学会还要再看。他身材矮小，却偏爱的是净角这一行。侥幸天生着一副响亮喉咙，又肯苦学苦练，才小小十四五岁年纪，竟被他学会了好多折戏，唱做念打，件件都来得。
这一年，有个“草台班”，来至角直。那班子里有个做净角的，唱的好，做的好。陈明智连看了他三日戏，委实着了迷，心里想道：“如若投得此人为师，搭在这个班子里，遍游各地，天天做戏，岂不快活？”想着，就冒冒失失地去找那个净角，说明来意道：“我想搭在你们班子里，跟老师傅学着做戏，不知可肯收留？”原来那个净角，就是这草台班的班主。早先年轻时，在苏州城里，搭过有名的班子，也曾红过的。只因他性情倔强，得罪了看戏的财主，又不肯听班主的话去磕头赔礼，这就被赶了出来。他一怒之下，发誓不到城里去做戏，约了几个伙伴，带着几个徒弟，弄这么一个草台班，跑跑远州外县，四乡八镇，图个糊口。
搭草台班做戏，是个最苦不过的行当：不但挣不到多少钱财，动辄还不免要忍饥受冻；平日“餐风宿露，戴月披星”，更是不足为奇的事。不是真正无路可走的人，谁也不愿意去搭草台班；搭在班子里的，一旦稍有办法，立刻就掉头不顾，远走高飞了。这个班子，起初也有二三十号人，唱不到半年，走了约莫有一半。走了老的，又补新的，补来补去，角色越弄越不齐整，有好多出大戏，渐渐都做它不动了。
那个班主，唯恐这个班子要垮台，心下暗暗发愁。每到一处，他都随时留心，但愿能收得几个徒弟，撑撑场面。这日忽见有人前来投效，怎能不喜？当下便问：“你也识得唱么？”陈明智道：“我私下也学了一些，只是未经名师指点，难免荒腔走板，怕的不中听。”班主又问：“你学的哪路角色？”陈明智道：“我爱做的是净角。”那班主听得这句话，便对陈明智浑身上下，打量一番，只是摇头道：“看你又瘦又小，竟也要学做净角么？”班主此言一出，陈明智只认作是不肯收留他，急得登时把脸胀红了，眼泪水只在眼眶里乱滚，差点儿流了出来。
班主见他这样，就又说道：“你且唱几句我听。
如若唱的还过得去，身材矮小，倒是可以想办法的。
”陈明智得了这句言语，就扯开喉咙，唱了一段。
陈明智唱的时候，那班主只是掐着指头，静静地听着。唱完了，也不说好，也不说坏，却朝着他的脸上，仔细端详。
陈明智被班主看得急了，紧紧问道：“老师傅，我倒是还有点儿做戏的指望没有呢？”班主道：“你且把适才唱的这一段，做个身段与我看看。”陈明智遵命做了。
班主等他把身段做完，顺手从架子上抽下一枝枪说：“耍一个‘黑虎掏心’吧！”陈明智又便耍了。
这样也试了，那样也试了，班主这才拉住陈明智的手，叫他坐下，和他说道：“像你这般年纪，无师自通，戏居然做到这样，真不容易。我在江湖上闯了这么多年，也很收过一些徒弟，却没有一个赶上你的。你若不怕饥寒奔波之苦，忍得住煎熬，我自当尽心尽力，把自己的本领，传授与你。只是凭你这样人才，这么好的根基，搭在草台班，拜我这样一个糟老头儿为师，未免有些委屈，将来说不定有一日会后悔的。”
