Book Abstract

旧地图——大多数人在爱情中寻找永恒家园。其他很少的人，寻找永恒的航行。后者属于多愁善感的类型，他们怯于与大地母亲接触。他们靠近那些能够让他们远离大地母亲的人。对这些人，他们保持着忠诚。中世纪的书籍最了解这些人对于远途旅行的渴求。
扇子——以下的现象很多人都能体味：如果一个人陷入爱河，或者强烈地中意另外一个人，那么她几乎能在每一本书中都能看到他的样子。他几乎能同时显现在正面角色和反面角色当中，在短篇故事、长篇小说和中篇小说里，不断变换着角色。通过这点，可见想象力那种在微小细节中无处不至的魅力，不断在每一个片段中展现新内容的能力。考察想象力，就像是看一把折叠起来的扇子。只有慢慢打开它，扇子上的画面才慢慢有了呼吸和生命。随着扇子被打开，被爱的人的面容才会展现其中。
浮雕——一个人与他所爱的女人在一起，交谈着。后来，几个星期乃至几个月后，他们相别离，往事重来，那些交谈的画面历历在目。现在，可见那些交谈的内容琐碎、平庸、浮泛并缺乏深度。但男人明白：这些都因为她深深陷入爱中，我们才呵护并享受这样的交谈，恰如思想在雕像的褶皱与缝隙中显现。如果像今天这样两人陷入了孤独，没有了慰藉与遮蔽，我们只能让思想平躺在我们平庸的智慧光照中。
裸体塑像——一个只有把自己的过去看成不断被强制和剥夺过程的人，才能使得它在当下充满了价值。对于一个人来说，把过去当成一个在运输过程中损坏了胳膊的裸体塑像，是最恰当不过的。现在，没有什么比这个塑像更能显示出它未来的价值了。
