劳丽•拉姆森记

我姨母雪莉•艾利斯于2002年进入文坛，开始采访她所钦佩的小说家，包括普利策奖得主、国家图书奖得主和美国全国教育协会奖得主。她作为社会工作者的背景以及她对文学的热爱使得她的访谈录写得深刻且有活力，这些访谈录发表在《布鲁姆伯利评论》、《微光列车》、《凯尼恩评论》、《作者纪事报》等报纸杂志上。

自始至终，我都在一旁为她加油。当我提议下一部“开始写吧！”可以谈影视剧本创作时，她慷慨邀请我和她共同编写；如今，《开始写吧！——影视剧本创作》已于2011年出版。

姨母为《开始写吧！——推理小说创作》收集练习时，被告知需要做心脏手术。她找我谈话，说如果她无法完成这本书的话，请我作为编者接管此书。那次谈话对我来说很难受。我从没想过真的会有这个必要。不幸的是，姨母在手术几天后就去世了。

我要发自肺腑地感谢不吝赐稿的所有作者，感谢你们参与到本书中来。接受这项工作情感上对我而言极具挑战，感谢你们在此过程中对我表现出的同情。没有你们的支持与善意帮助，我根本无法完成这项工作。
