张悦然：猫的法则

人和动物的关系，会阶段性地不一样。小的时候，我特别需要生活里有动物的陪伴，好像从来没有经历过不养活物的年纪。我天然地喜欢它们，小鸡、小鸭、老鼠、狗、鸟，而开始养猫，那是十一岁。最早的时候，我写过一篇小说《黑猫不睡》，讲的就是童年的这只猫。它傍晚的时候总是叫，我爸爸一生气就把它踢出去了，那次，猫的牙齿在门槛上磕断了。我因此很记恨爸爸，决定把这件事情写成小说。那时我和猫的感情是很深的，而且喜欢将猫拟人化，到什么程度？它是只公猫，没有牙齿，后来，它一半时间在家里，一半时间又在外面。我就开始幻想它在外面的情感生活特别失败。有次我目睹了它和另一只母猫对峙，因为没有牙，战胜不了这只母猫。看到这个我很难受。

这时它已经没有了家猫的习气，而我们要搬家了，猫不能一块搬去新家，使我非常苦恼。就在这个时候，有一天它走了，再也没有回来。我悲伤地觉得它死了，大人说猫不会死在家里；神奇的是，猫就是在我们都不知如何处理它的时候不见的。

现在身边的这只猫，我已经养了五年。它是只流浪猫。有一年冬天，它妈妈带着一窝小猫来到我家，讨东西吃。母猫吃饱后也不管自己的孩子，任由它们在我家院子里上蹿下跳，也不认生。外面很冷，这些小猫看起来刚刚足月，应该活不下来，我就把它们陆续送人了。最后给自己留了一只。这时，那母猫立刻就走了，有点像把孩子终生托付给我的样子。

我的猫叫团团。那时候电视新闻里提到一对送给台湾的大熊猫，里面有只就叫团团。而我的小猫是黑色的，又有四个白色的小爪子，是“踏雪寻梅”，便取了一个熊猫的名字。

我的这只小母猫很小的时候就开始发情了，医生警告如果不做结扎，就会影响它的发育。我带它去做绝育手术时，又经历了一刻童年时常常突如其来的那种拟人化幻想，我想，这只猫一生的爱情都结束了。好在做完手术，它便迅速胖了起来。

许多流浪猫都患有免疫系统性口炎，养猫经验丰富的朋友一开始就告诉了我。这是种不可治愈的疾病，主要症状是牙龈红肿、溃烂流血，而且会传染别的猫。发病期间，猫不能正常进食，备受痛苦。我在院子里见过一只患了这种病的流浪猫，它的脸肿胀发炎，不停地流口水，从某一天起便再也没来过了。我揣测它死了，这种病确实会影响猫的寿命。

带着我的小猫去打疫苗的时候，它便被医生当场确诊患有这种病。唯一的办法就是拔牙。如果整口牙都拔掉，身体状况会好很多，但从此它便只能吃软的东西，有点过于悲惨。于是我决定先不拔牙。可是病注定要发作，从今年开始，有时牙疼得不行，三四天不吃东西，只能送到医院打针吃药，稳定病情。我打算下次再发病，就坚决拔牙，而医生又告诉我，其实拔了牙，以后也会有并发症。小猫失去了牙齿，又多了抑郁的危险。我忽然想到童年那只黑猫，心里又难受了一次。

没有办法，只能接受现实。同时，我也觉得应该做好料理后事的准备。有一次，朋友问我：如果它病情严重到无法控制，你有没有想过给它安乐死？而我现在还很难接受这件事。

我以前养过一条狗。它很小的时候就死在了宠物医院，对我的冲击特别大。它属于至今都很流行的犬种——泰迪贵宾。这种狗以小为美，而我现在觉得，这个犬种像被杂交出来的，完全不人性。我的狗当时患了胃病，吐了一大口血，但是它太小，血管太细了，甚至没办法输血，就这么死掉了。它天生就带着一种很脆弱很危险的东西。

那条狗去世以后，我对动物的感情发生了变化——对它们再没有那么深的感情了。这可能是种自我保护。可以说，小时候我是个和动物特别亲近的人，长大后却不是了。甚至，从养这只猫的那一刻起，我就觉得它不那么重要，只是生活中的一个存在。

疾病会一直折磨它吗？我不知道，大概只有非常严重、疼痛不堪的时候，我才能有所察觉。它的牙齿可能一直在疼。或许正因为这样，它脾气古怪，让人猜不透心思。它很少叫，是我见过最不爱舔舐自己皮毛的猫。它睡觉的地方经常会换，亲密的人也经常会换，一点也不顽固。之前院子里时有流浪猫闯进来晃悠，它不会和它们打招呼，更不会与它们打斗。它不关心什么，没有兴趣，没有爱好，是一只很木讷的猫。它也不爱玩，就是待着。我觉得它很孤僻，很沉默，不是一只很高兴的猫。

而我似乎也体会不到猫的情感。如果我出了意外，它会难过吗？我觉得不会。我看待人和猫的关系特别理性，真的认为我的猫不懂。有时又觉得它很神奇。平常除了抓沙发之外，它没有别的恶习，但去年初我们刚搬家，房间里都是新的家具，如果它再抓沙发，家里人就要把它送走。奇怪的是，来到新家以后，它一下都没有抓过，甚至从此没有了这个习惯。

有段时间，我的腿动了一个手术，每天只能躺在家里，这时猫便很爱来找我。它经常躺在我的床边，让我安心。面对与它建立的这种关系，我感到舒适，但即使是这样生活在一起，我也没有试图去理解它，甚至很难产生一种与它真正平等的想法。我们的沟通也许永远都是鸡同鸭讲。我想，人和猫的关系折射出的永远是人的变化，是人如何社会化的过程。我们可能变得更加成熟、更加冷酷，但是猫没有变。因此这从来都是单方面的情感，猫还是猫，它对我们的态度一直都没有变，变的是我们。
