「有时会想，假若不是出版社，而选择了其他职业，那我的人生又会是什麼样子呢？进入岩波书店纯属偶然，但我觉得自己是幸运的。」
《一本之道》是由农村家乡来到东京，进入岩波书店工作的少年，五十年如一日坚守的人生之路，一条通过诚实率直、坚持信念、面对自我所开拓出来的道路。
一九二〇年，十七岁的少年小林勇从农村来到东京，在偶然之下进入了岩波书店工作，改变了他的一生，也影响了书店的未来。
他虚怀若谷，以真诚求学的态度与作家们交往，建立了广阔的人脉和信赖；他重视修养，学习绘画，视為映照自己心灵的一面明镜；他坚守信念，面对军部对书店的言论打压，即使受严刑拷打也不屈服於强权。
战后，书店的创业始祖岩波茂雄离世，小林勇代替岳父掌舵，带领书店闯过战后出版界的风高浪急，直到一九七二年功成身退，安享晚年。这条跨越五十年的出版之路，值得我们学习，他是如何从那动盪的时代中坚定不移地走过来的。

Author Description

小林勇（一九〇三－一九八一），编辑、随笔作家、画家。号冬青。十七岁进入岩波书店工作，后成為创业者岩波茂雄的女婿，一九六二年就任岩波书店会长。一生编辑出版了不少书籍，也留下很多个人著述及画作。

张伟龄，毕业於山东大学外文系，一九七四年进入山东省人民政府外事办公室，歷任处长、主任、山东人民对外友好协会会长等职，现任山东省人民政府参事。

袁勇，毕业於北京外国语大学日语系，二〇〇二至一三年就职於外交部亚洲司，其间四年曾就职於中国驻日本大阪总领事馆。

Book Abstract

母亲让我看脐带的时候，我的感觉有点怪。自己之前一直记着的生日竟是虚假的。从此以后，每当我需要填写自己生日的时候总有一种人生无常的感觉。

由于生日被改早了几天，我虚岁七岁时便进入了小学。上学那天的情景我至今记忆犹新，是二哥正领我去学校的。他当时已经高小毕业，与大哥一起在家从事家务。小学离家大概有六七百米的距离，当时的村长是一个热心于教育的人，所以学校盖得比较大。

小学新生们被父亲和兄长领着，陆陆续续地聚集到自己以后上课的教室。二哥在教室里找到了写有小林勇名卡的课桌，便让我坐在了那里。突然，他发出了惊讶的声音，原来在两人一张的课桌另一边写着二哥的名字小林正。没一会儿，一个与二哥同名同姓的一年级新生来到了这张课桌旁，与我并排坐了下来。

那之后的校园生活我现在基本记不清了。只记得当时我每天是和四哥忠雄一起上学的，不过我好像不太喜欢学校。有一天早上，我不高兴，故意磨蹭不去。由于上学的时间快到了，忠雄哥哥便不等我自己走了。我就撒泼，任性地哭个不停。母亲和姐姐也拿我没办法。我哭闹的地方是家里的后院，在正房和仓库之间，有一口井，后门旁边有一个大酱储备仓。父亲不知道是从哪儿出来的，脸上的表情令人可怕，突然给了我一拳，差点把我打飞了。母亲和姐姐见状替我向父亲道了歉。就这样，我充满着对不去上学会有什么后果的恐惧，一边哭一边被姐姐拉着向学校走去。

我们村有电灯好像是进人大正年间（一九一二一一九二五）的事。关于装电灯的做法，村民们的意见发生了对立，情绪激昂的群众烧毁了少数听从电力公司意见安装了电灯的农户房屋。这宗事件以骚扰案的名义被起诉，村里很多人陷入了长期的官司当中。就因为此，我小时候附近的几个村镇都装了电灯，只有我们赤穗村没有。

父亲是个很讲究的人，要求里里外外必须井然有序，所以家里的事一直都是父亲在“指挥”。交给我和哥哥的固定任务则是清洁油灯和打扫土问。

土问很宽敞，没有天花板，能够看到高处粗大的房梁构架。土间里摆放着全家人的鞋子，还有很多临时存放的东西。靠近火炉的地方有一个装木柴的大箱子，火炉上方并排着两口锅灶。土间的角落里还有一个用来在冬天储存蔬菜的洞，日U做“室”，外面用很厚的木板遮盖。不知什么时候，马匹被从土间迁到了外面新盖的马厩里，原来的地方又成了新的房间。打扫这样的土间对小孩子来说并不是件轻松的事，我和哥哥一般都是轮流清洁油灯和土间。打扫土间时，需要搬动里面的每件东西，清扫下面积攒的灰尘，然后再正确地恢复到原来的位置和形状。如果稍有敷衍很快就会被父亲发现，让我们重新打扫。

每天清洁油灯对我们孩子来说也是很重的负担。家里一共有十来盏油灯，每天晚上要用的有五六盏。我们要给这五六盏油灯加入煤油，并擦去所有的污渍使其焕然一新。油灯满是煤油味，很容易弄脏，灯罩如果不每天擦干净的话，亮度就会减弱。我们会在棍子的前端裹上布，并向灯罩的玻璃里哈气来擦拭灯罩内侧。灯芯烧得已经变圆了，所以要把它拧尖拧齐。如果灯芯不齐的话，火焰的形状就不好，容易产生黑色的油烟，灯罩很快就会被熏黑。
