Content Description

《世界现代设计史》自出*一版以来，在国内关于世界设计史的教学和研究中，一直是被普遍采用的重要参考书。

本书是修订版。本书*初的撰写目的是给大众看的，给喜欢设计的人看的，给青年学生看的，主要是为学习设计的学生而写。因而，在修订过程中，仍然保持了*一版的通俗写法，注重可读性。本书撰写重点不在于详细介绍具体设计范畴的发展，而在于把影响设计发展的历史背景、文化背景和设计发展本身联系起来讨论，给读者建立一个对于现代设计发展脉络的宏观认识。

Author Description

王受之，具有国际背景的设计史论研究家，从1982年开始从事设计史论研究、教学工作。主要著作有《世界现代建筑史》（中国建筑工业出版社）、《世界现代设计史》（中国青年出版社）、《世界平面设计史》（中国青年出版社）等。研究范围主要是与艺术和设计相关的学科，包括城市、建筑、工业产品、时尚品牌、动漫、平面设计、娱乐设计、文创策划等。

曾担任中国广州美术学院设计专业教授，美国洛杉矶帕萨迪纳艺术中心设计学院（Art Center College of Design， Pasadena）教授，在美国加利福尼亚艺术学院（California Institute of the Arts， Valencia）、南加州建筑学院（Southern California Institute of Architecture， LA）等担任课程教学。

现任中国汕头大学长江艺术与设计学院院长，并在中央美术学院担任博士研究生导师，在鲁迅美术学院担任史论研究生班的导师。
