Author Description

原研哉（1958—），日本中生代国际级平面设计大师，日本设计中心的代表，武藏野美术大学教授，无印良品（MUJI）艺术总监。曾设计长野冬季奥运会开、闭幕式的节目纪念册和2005年爱知县万国博览会的文宣推广材料，展现了深植日本文化的设计理念。在银座松屋百货更新设计中，实践了横跨空间和平面的整体设计观念。在梅田医院CI设计中，尝试表现了触觉在视觉传达中的可能性。

Book Abstract

一切塑造我们生活环境的物品，地板、浴缸、牙刷等，都是由颜色、形状和材质等基本元素构成的。现代主义的基础理念是：这些东西的造型应交给理性和明确的意识，目标在于对这些元素进行组织。因此设计的想法，从广义上来讲，就是通过理性、综合性的创造追求一种人类思维的普遍平衡与和谐。设计，就是通过做东西的过程对人类的生活与存在的意义进行阐释的行为；而艺术，则是发现一种新的人类精神的行为。设计和艺术都是对客体的某一操纵方式，它们采用塑造或表现等手段为我们的感觉器官所感知。我老是被问到艺术与设计有何区别。鉴于我对把艺术与设计结合起来，或是把艺术与设计隔离开来的意义都不太感冒，我不会在此界定它们。然而，为了帮助读者理解设计的概念并对再设计项目的范围有个理性把握，我就来谈谈它们的区别。
艺术说到底是个人意愿对社会的一种表达，其起源带有非常个人化的性质。所以只有艺术家自己才知道其作品的来源。这种玄虚性使得艺术“很酷”。当然，解读艺术家生成的表达有多种方式。非艺术家通过对艺术的有趣阐释与艺术互动，欣赏之，评论之，在展览中对艺术进行再创作，或把艺术当作一种智识资源使用。
而设计，则基本上不是一种自我表达，它源于社会。设计的实质在于发现一个很多人都遇到的问题然后试着去解决的过程。由于问题的根源在社会内部，除了能从设计师的视角看问题外，每个人都能理解解决问题的方案和过程。设计就是感染，因为其过程所创造的启发，是基于人类在普遍价值和精神上的共鸣。
“再设计”所包含的主题，乃是全社会普遍共享与认同的事物。把日常用品堆起来作为项目的主题不是什么新花样，而“再设计”是对设计理念进行再审视的最自然、最适当的方法，因为设计面对的就是我们普遍的、共享的价值。
