展现体育精神不仅对孩子来说很难，对成人也一样。没有人喜欢输。孩子难过、失望甚至生气都是正常的。正是因为有了这些情绪，体育精神才得以确立。祝贺别人获胜，冷静地接受裁判有争议的判决，或祝贺取代你演出校园剧的那个人等等都很艰难。就像故事里的莎莉那样，孩子努力面对失败时，才能学会如何拥有体育精神。
体育精神的重要性

·记住你是孩子的表率。特别注意你在家里家外说的话。不要对你自己或其他孩子大吼大叫，贬低他们或吹毛求疵。教孩子如何提高技巧和公平竞赛，鼓励他们尝试和努力！
·不要对教练、老师、主持或裁判恶语中伤。如果你对他们的处置有意见，跟这些人私下说。如果我们尊重权威，孩子也会同样尊重他们。
·身体力行地教给孩子做一个好观众。不只为你的孩子喝彩，为每个选手喝彩。你的孩子不会永远是主角。
