《税坛作家谱》：
那时红星制药厂还是国营单位。后来企业改制，红星制药厂成了股份制公司，厂长也不叫厂长，叫老板，老板整天坐飞机天南海北跑来跑去，不知从哪儿学来了歪歪心眼子，说企业要想挣钱，必须在税收上做足文章，还让周会计在财务上多列支出，少列收入，说白了，就是想少缴税。周会计对老板晓之以理，动之以情，劝说不能这么干，这样干下去，非出毛病不可。老板一气之下要解雇周会计，周会计是公司老会计，有很好的人缘儿，根深蒂固的。再说，他要是真解雇周会计，就凭周会计的业务水平，不知有多少家公司接着呢，老板毕竟见多识广，没有固执己见。可是没多久，老板看着同行业人偷税发起家来了，实在忍不住内心焦灼，竞和颜悦色跟周会计商量，让她做假账，做账外账，周会计一听，马上跟他翻了脸，说你这是叫我往火坑里跳啊，周会计给老板讲会计法，讲税法，讲得老板一头雾水，听得不耐烦了，摔门气乎乎走出财务室。实践证明，这是周会计救了老板一把，据老板所知，那些在税收上打主意的公司，个个都是兔子尾巴长不了，被税务部门查出来了，声败名裂不说，企业也干不下去了，没多久就卷起铺盖，不知躲到哪个耗子洞里，再也没出来。
老板对周会计的千恩万谢并没挂在嘴上，而是存放在心里，用行动表达出来的。直到周会计退休，他让周会计休息几天，就把她返聘过来，替他把好财务关，这是一种说法，另一种说法，就是老板想报答周会计，故意给她多开一份工资，比她在位时开得还高，工作量呢，周会计自己定，能干多少干多少，周会计偏偏又是认真的人，绝不在工作上耍滑偷懒。按理说，干了一辈子工作的周会计，身体也不算太好，主要是总犯高血压，头迷糊，即使早晨吃了降压药，遇到着急上火的事，血压也会腾地升起来，开始她不想回聘，老板说：“你不来单位上班也可以，我们每个月往你工资卡里照常打钱，开这笔额外工资。”周会计哪好意思拿钱不干活儿呢，接受返聘那天，周会计明确对老板说：“别看我从岗位上退下来了，你让我干违法的事，我立马走人。”老板说：“你看我像那种人吗？”现在的确不是，可以前他动过这方面心思的，周会计不能不提防。周会计干工作坚持原则，这一点老板心知肚明，不然他不会用这种方式回报周会计。
这几年，税务系统实施金税工程，网上报税方便多了，但周会计的公司总是时不时地出现点儿困境，实现税收很不稳定，为了如实申报，周会计还时常跑几趟国税局，领取发票什么的，有一次她乘公交车去办税，也许是天气热，车里挤，血压忽地升高了，当场迷糊过去，多亏她跟前站着一个小伙子，一把拉住了她，醒来时，看着一直扶着她的小伙子，这个感激啊，心里想着，这么个好心人，要是跟玉英处上该有多好哇，只是乘公交车的时间太短，她还没跟那小伙子说几句话，那小伙子竟说：“阿姨您没事吧？没事我就到站下车了。”周会计眼巴巴看着那小伙子离开自己，心里那个怅然，那个无助啊，说到底，他跟玉英没缘份呐，要是有缘，再晚几站下车，说不定周会计就跟他搭上话，唠上一阵，如果他还没对象，没结婚，学历也跟玉英相当，她真就敢把话挑明了，领着小伙子跟玉英见上一面，先了解了解再说。也就是从这天开始，周会计心里有了一个古怪的想法，那就是，她的迷糊肯定不会是这一次，等下次再迷糊时，有小伙子前来帮助做好事，她醒来一定把人家是否有对象，是否结了婚当头等大事来问。
