《富儿学：儿童财商培养第一书》：
有人曾经算过这样一笔账：一个人如果每个月拿出5000元来储蓄，从20岁存到60岁，那就是将近250万元；如果从30岁开始存，存到60岁，就不到200万元；如果从40岁存到60岁，则不到150万元；如果从50岁开始存，那么到60岁时，那就不到100万元。
所以，让孩子理财一定要趁早，因为越早开始，收益就越大。尤其是滚雪球式的理财模式，开始得越早，效果就越惊人。然而，很多父母在面对是否要对孩子进行理财教育这个问题时，却往往不愿接受，认为孩子还这么小，对其进行理财教育有点太早了！有的甚至认为跟孩子谈钱，会使孩子从小就沾上“铜臭”味，所以对于这个话题根本不屑一顾。
其实，随着生活条件的日益提升，对于孩子的理财教育已经显得越来越重要，甚至是刻不容缓了。我们先来看一个案例：12岁的北京男孩明明，是北京一所小学五年级的学生；美国男孩约翰，也是12岁，在北京的一所私立学校上学。在儿童节那天，家长多少都会给孩子一些钱。明明的爸爸和爷爷给了他200元，约翰的妈妈给了他100元。
当天早上，明明出门时，先花了5元钱吃早餐，然后和其他小朋友一起去商店玩，很快就看上了一件小礼品，便花了20多元钱把它买下来，作为送给自己的礼物，然后又坐出租车到餐厅去与同学聚餐，车费花了16元，餐费花了30多元。下午又买了两本漫画书，花了20多元，接着又花了20元坐出租车到家门口的超市，再进去买了一些零食，又用掉30多元。这时，明明只知道自己口袋里还有剩余的钱，至于还剩多少，他也懒得去数，当然也压根就没有想过要把剩下的钱存到银行去，只想着明天继续花就行了。
而约翰呢，一早起来，先在家里吃过早餐，然后坐公交车到学校去参加节庆活动。下午学校安排了野营活动，约翰也参加了，但所吃的食物都是从家里带的。途中经过商店，大家一块下车购物，约翰经过仔细挑选，选择了自己很喜欢的一件小礼物，花了lO元。下午回家时，路过一家玩具店，约翰又花20元买了一件很耐玩的玩具，将来自己不玩时还能卖掉（又可以小赚一笔）。到家时，约翰发现时间还早，于是来到银行，把剩下的70元存入自己的账户。约翰从4岁开始就拥有自己的存款账户，并开始存钱。如今，约翰的户头上已经有2万多元了，他又用这些钱来买一些有潜力的股票和基金。对此，约翰充满自信地说，等他长大后，这些钱将成为他上大学所需要的费用。
从上面的这个案例中，我们不难看出，北京孩子和美国孩子的差异，主要源于父母是否对孩子进行过理财教育。
