苏枕书，江苏南通人，客居京都，喜爱养花种菜，出版小说《岁时记》《不许流光入梦来》、散文《京都古书店风景》《藤花抄》等多种，译著若干。

Book Abstract

{缘起}

年岁渐长，时常怀疑写作的意义。自己没有什么长进，这是最清楚不过的。长时期与自己周旋，呈现平静的假象。痛苦的源头，也许是认识到自己的贫乏与无趣。不，不是这样的，有一瞬想辩解的欲望，但没有任何意义。为什么有这么多怀疑？如自己这般愚钝的人，并不该有这么多怀疑。无法妥善处理自己许多可笑的想法。所有痛苦与冲突，不会有出口。我知道这没有出口，因此沉默是好的。

那么现在，为什么又要写点儿什么？

时常，一些外来的刺激，或曰触动，就能燃起书写欲。看到某人写的书，想：啊，我也想写呢！这种蠢蠢欲动、激情与焦虑混杂的感觉，写作的人最清楚不过。可惜真要动笔，又有很多理由阻挠：太忙、找资料太费劲、没感觉。在习以为常的环境里生活惯了，也很难有动力写作。我对人与人之间的理解、同情并不乐观。每个人对于生命、生活、城市都有独特的感知，而我为何要不厌其烦地记录这些没有意义的情绪、无足轻重的琐事？如果写下来，又有何必要公诸于众，徒然打扰读者？去年秋天，有一位朋友从北京来到京都，我们在同一个研究室相处了半年。她十分能享用京都之美、京都之乐，古本

屋、旧书市、居酒屋、庭园、寺社、美食、秋天的红叶、冬天的大雪、清池的锦鲤、鸭川沿岸永恒又稍纵即逝的风景——她都喜爱，并敏锐地把握了最关键处。我们一起喝过很多回酒，有非常快乐的回忆。有时候，一起到某个地方，我也忍不住告诉她一些可有可无的背景与细节。她的好奇心令我大为感动，给我很大的信心。写点儿什么吧，至少可以给她看，以此纪念我们在京都共处的愉快时光，并将她未曾来得及亲自体会的京都的种种传递过去。

某日，去老师的研究室喝酒，那是一小罐我去年泡的梅酒。老师翻到一篇我刚写的小文：“你把京都写得很美，读书生活也写得不错。”停顿道，“不过，这还不够。琐碎的、不好的、不愉快的，你也要写。”是的，我又要写大家很熟悉的京都了。有太多人写过京都，种种礼赞、旁观、走马观花，都使读者产生了对京都的强烈兴趣。我自己也是如此，因为读了几页《枕草子》《源氏物语》，才对京都抱有朦胧的幻想。两年前，我写过一篇很短的《京都第五年》，转眼已是“第七年”。对于日常生活，似乎什么都不必提，然而真要说些什么，又千头万绪。数年前的初秋，第一次在车窗内望见夕光笼罩下东寺的五重塔，望见水草丰茂的鸭川，难免激动：“啊，就是这里。”如今，虽已对此地习以为常，但从外地回来时，见到东寺的五重塔和流水不息的鸭川，还是会有一种十分清晰的安心感：“我回来了。”不过，旅人的身份与视角无法改变，因此我能写的，仍只是客居者的日常。

在这里搬过三次家，如今住在银阁寺前，附近有条小路，曰鹿之谷通。常被问：“真有鹿？”是的，据说平安时代比叡山的僧人元珍在此险要迷路，幸有鹿的指引。现在路上当然没有鹿，但在不远处的东山，就常有鹿的影子。山里动物很多，此外还有蛙、蜥蜴、狸猫、鼯鼠、蛇、野猪、猴子、狐狸。大部分我都见过，最怕蛇，有时草丛一阵窸窣，吓得汗毛直竖，它们往往也溜得飞快。有宝蓝色蜥蜴，非常漂亮，转眼间就消失了。野猪可怕，幸好暂未会面，只在山中听到过号叫。山鹿就像精灵，曾见母鹿领小鹿出来喝

水，见人辄惊走，与奈良公园跟人混熟了的鹿完全不一样，它们清瘦机警，乌黑的眼睛特别大。

鸭川也有鹿，时而从附近山里下来喝水。曾在月夜看到母鹿领小鹿在水边，波光清浅，水草蓊郁，不似人间。在岸上望着，大气都不敢出，唯恐惊扰。有时意识到人的存在，它们就会飞奔离开。也有胆大的，白天出来散步，在浅水中央走，与白鹭、野鸭、老鹰、乌鸦共处。岸上的人担心它走到深水里，被激流冲走，就在岸边遥遥跟着。最终大概还是回到山中去了吧。

去年初夏，下学回来的夜里，漫天星辰，凉风可喜。遂往屋后山坡散步。四围静寂，人家灯火已暗。忽闻群犬争吠，又闻一阵急促的脚步声。完全猝不及防地，眼前转角处竟刹那现身一头大鹿，鹿角巍巍，前蹄腾起，健壮貌美。似乎有一瞬对视，我惊呆，鹿也惊呆，飞快回身，消失在黑暗山影中，复一片犬吠。待我回过神，追去两步，早已行迹杳然。

就从这里说起吧。
