Book Abstract

20世纪80年代开始，人们着手寻找统一网络结构和协议的途径。国际标准化组织（ISO）下属的计算机信息处理标准化技术委员会为研究网络的标准化成立了一个分委员会。1984年正式颁布了开放系统互连基本参考模型OSI／RM，这里的开放系统是指对当时各个封闭的网络系统而言，它可以和任何其他遵守模型的系统通信。模型分为7个层次，故又称为OSI 7层模型。它构成了现行的计算机网络体系结构的基础，并使得1990年最终形成世界范围的Internet。
现行的计算机网络体系结构采用分层配对结构，它定义和描述了一组用于计算机及其通信设施之间互连的标准和规范的集合，它是管理两个实体（实体是通信时能发送和接收信息的任何硬件设施）之间通信规则的集合，遵循这组规范可以方便地实现计算机设备之间的通信。
（5）计算机网络的功能
以资源共享为主要目标的计算机网络，通常具有以下几方面功能：
1）数据通信。该功能实现计算机与终端、计算机与计算机间的数据传输，这是计算机网络的基本功能。
2）资源共享。网络上的计算机彼此之间可以实现资源共享，包括硬件、软件和数据。信息时代的到来，资源的共享具有重大的意义。首先，从投资考虑，网络上的用户可以共享使用网上的打印机、扫描仪等，这样就节省了资金。其次，现代的信息量越来越大，单一的计算机已经不能将其储存，只有分布在不同的计算机上，网络用户可以共享这些信息资源。再次，现在计算机软件层出不穷，在这些浩如烟海的软件中，不少是免费共享的，这是网络上的宝贵财富。任何连入网络的人，都有权利使用它们。资源共享为用户使用网络提供了方便。
3）远程传输。计算机应用已经从科学计算发展到数据处理，从单机发展到网络。分布在很远位置的用户可以互相传输数据信息，互相交流，协同工作。
4）集中管理。计算机网络技术的发展和应用，已使得现代的办公手段、经营管理方式等发生了变化。目前，市场上已经有了许多管理信息系统（MIS）、办公自动化系统（OA）等，通过这些系统可以实现日常工作的集中管理，提高工作效率，增加经济效益。
