5.为什么颈椎容易出现骨质增生现象？中老年人颈椎部位常常有骨质增生现象存在，这一点通过拍摄颈椎X线片可以观察到。为什么中老年人的颈椎容易发生骨质增生现象呢？（1）与颈椎的活动幅度较大有关：人的脊柱包括颈椎、胸椎、腰椎、骶椎和尾椎几部分，其中颈椎的活动幅度和活动量是脊柱各部分椎骨中最大的。我们都有这样的体会，一个人可以限制腰部及身体其他部位的活动，但很难限制其颈部的转动、低头、抬头等动作，说明颈椎各椎体之间的运动相对更大、更频繁，这就使得颈椎比身体的其他部位更早、更容易出现退行性改变，也就是我们通常所说的“衰老”现象。而骨质增生正是颈椎退行性改变最常见、最显著的现象。（2）与颈椎的受力有关：颈椎除了有骨组织（如椎体、椎板、棘突等）、神经组织（如脊神经、神经根）以外，还有大量的肌肉、韧带组织附着在颈椎周围，使颈椎的活动更灵活，也使颈椎更稳定。随着人的年龄的增加，颈椎长时间、频繁的活动，必然使附着在颈椎上的肌肉、韧带对颈椎骨质的局部进行牵拉，颈椎活动幅度越大，这种牵拉的力量也越大。人体为了抵消这种牵拉的力量，降低颈椎骨局部的应力，必然以骨质增生的形式增加颈椎骨质局部的表面积。表面积增加，必然降低颈椎局部的牵拉力，使颈椎受力达到新的平衡。所以说，颈椎的骨质增生是人体的一种保护性的代偿现象。
