It was only later that I found out whether this style is from Heilongjiang or Jilin...it has nothing to do with my Liaoning. Although the seasoning itself is not particularly delicious, it can be saved by adding oyster sauce, rattan pepper oil, chili oil, and cumin powder. When I made it, I also added enoki mushrooms and spinach, which was a bigger portion...it was okay after three meals.
