Best Snacks for People Who Love Choco Pie

The chocolate-covered treat is vaguely reminiscent of a smores experience, with cake and marshmallow in the interior, all coated with a delicious layer of chocolate. If you’re one of the millions of obsessed Choco Pie fans, here are some other tasty cake-like treats that are sure to please.

ChocoPie

Lotte, Korea’s mega corporation is known for its hotels, theme parks and consumer goods, but perhaps most importantly it is the producer of Korea’s favorite chocolate snacks, the Choco Pie. The acclaimed Choco Pie has made its appearance in numerous Korean dramas and television shows and if you’ve been following Korean movies since before the Korean Wave became famous, you may remember the Choco Pie playing a starring role in the Lee Jeong-hyang film The Way Home, where a city boy is sent to live with his grandmother in a rural setting. As he tries to fit into his new life situation, the demanding child continually insists his grandmother buy him Choco Pie. You can’t help but shout “ChocoPie, ChocoPie,” after seeing the film.

Castella Japanese Style Baked Sponge Cake

The popular Japanese Castella-Style Baked Sponge Cake is made with simple ingredients like flour, sugar, honey and eggs. It is similar to American-style sponge cake, but with a lighter, more airy interior. There’s plenty of cocoa happiness in the chocolate-flavored snack, but Castella also sells its sponge cake in a variety of other flavors, including original, cheese, and matcha.

Baked Cake Chocolate 82g

If you’re an obsessed Baumkuchen fan, Taiyo Foods also has a spongy, tasty tree cake. Try to resist eating the cake as soon you receive it and instead save it for an afternoon or after-dinner treat. The cake pairs perfectly with coffee or tea, and you can also serve it with fresh fruit on top. Taiyo also offers tree cake in regular, milk, and banana flavor.

OH! YES Choco Cake 12 pieces

Oh yes, the Oh! Yes Choco Cake got its name for a reason. While most of the items on this list are sold in individually wrapped packages, this double-decker cake comes in a larger party size that according to the packaging serves 12. Or, you know, you could just eat the whole thing while binge-watching Korean dramas on Netflix.

Chocoloate Flavored Cake Bread

For an extra-intense, chocolate-y experience, the D-Plus Chocolate Flavored Cake Bread is a must. The flavor-packed snack looks more like a long, bran loaf than it does a cake treat. Don’t let the look fool you, this treat falls solidly in the pastry category. D-Plus sells numerous wheat/bread products on the Yami site, in a variety of flavors, including mashed red bean, yuzu and Okinawa brown sugar. Be sure to try them all.

French Pie Choco Spread

If you prefer your pastry less spongy and less cake-like, then Haitai’s crispy French Choco Pie Spread should appeal. This treat features a rich chocolate spread that is layered directly onto a crispy wafer. We completely agree with Yami reviewer “Fae'' who calls this treat, “literally THE BEST..”
