以这句话开头，这些人似乎就能够完全置身事外、不负任何责任地对新想法、新提议大肆攻击，就好像是魔鬼让他们这么说的，他们根本就是在隔岸观火。他们刚一说完，刚刚长出羽翼的新提议就被扼杀了。

这种现象在美国商界十分普遍，不论是在讨论项目时，还是在董事会上，“魔鬼代言人”时刻都在蠢蠢欲动，每天扼杀大量的新想法、新项目和新提议，几乎是美国商业社会的头号创新杀手。
