每次我请麦肯锡校友对于访谈给出最好的建议时，他们都会说写一份访谈提纲。许多人讨厌被采访，至少他们舍不得让你占用他们的时间。访谈提纲堪称是成功从被访者那里获得需要的信息，并使大家的时间都得到充分利用的最佳工具。
在构建一份访谈提纲时，必须考虑两个层面的问题。首先，你需要明确知道所问的问题是什么？按任意顺序将它们记录下来。其次，也更重要的是，从这次访谈中，你真正需要获得的是什么？你试图达到的目的是什么？为什么要采访某人？定义访谈目的有助干你将问题按顺序排好，并对其进行正确的表述。
提前了解被访者也是大有好处的。她是个爱挑刺的CEO吗？假如你问及敏感问题，她会大发雷霆吗？或者，她是不是一个中层经理，曾经请求公司进行变革但却没有予以理睬？对于知道同样信息的两个人，你要采取不同的方法进行采访。
