Book Abstract

茶之花？
属于茶人对花木的品味，置放在茶席或茶室的一角。
台湾茶界耆老潘燕九先生，多年来茶席只用一枝人造的姬百合，概因老人家悲天悯人，不忍为每一次的茶事而折腾花草。
冈仓天心在《茶之书》中多处反对人工事花，尤指花道界用铁丝矫正花枝形态，或用烛油滴点牡丹花心，或用热水蹂躏花枝，罔顾花的尊严。
对花人而言，茶花是可以独立欣赏的作品，以花枝少、花头小、花色雅、花品清、花器秀为准则。
对茶人来说，技术只为辅佐花型，更严格来说，掌握技法后应学习放下，重新将眼光放回自然界的秩序上。传统插花为固定花型而用的剑山，在茶席上应避免使用。碗型或皿型的花器常与茶席上的器型相近，不易创造层次感。文房雅玩的小瓶，将折枝花自然投入，很符合茶花情趣。
日本茶室结构中有床龛一角，为茶室的精神角落，作茶花、挂轴、香合陈设之用。平日茶人多亲执花事，茶事中也有“花所望”之语，意指主人不自己插花而请客人代为发挥。唯客人离去前需将自己插的花撤下，包在白宣纸中置于床龛的一角。也就是茶花仅属茶席间的花，茶事毕了，花亦非花了。
茶花所追求的是将花所持有的生命在瞬息间把握，很像禅宗活在当下的生命观。故茶席的花只要在茶事进行时三两小时间，维持茶人所期待的生命状态即可。是以像春日盛开的山茶、夏日的莲、秋日的枫、冬日的梅，都是茶室花品的代表。
近年来台湾茶人为响应环保，多祟尚自然的盆栽，摆在茶席上，成了案头的活山水。屠隆在《考盘余事》中写道：“？？春之芳兰，夏之夜合黄香萱，秋之黄密矮菊，冬之短叶水仙、美人蕉，佑以灵芝，盛诸古盆，傍立小巧奇石一块，架以珠几，清标雅质，疏朗不繁，玉立亭亭，俨若隐人君子，清素逼人？？”
盆栽的意趣在于将自然的山水浓缩在咫尺的盆器中，借景入室，寓情于天地山川之间。民初文人周瘦鹃热爱梅花，园有梅屋、梅丘，也培育了不少盆梅，尤其偏爱古干虯枝的绿梅。而文人审美趣味最奇的当属《影梅庵忆语》的作者冒辟疆，他主张隔着屏障点着翠烛欣赏花影，为我日后进入剧场为茶会做造景时，提供了很好的灵感。
我习花多年也曾从事教学数载，曾在茶花的形式上力求创新。我以为花器与花本应视为创作的一体，不可切割。尤其在茶花器上，理应与茶器具同调。多年前尝选用烧水焙茶用的大木炭，将花插入兰花吸管中再埋入炭缝，以炭作为茶花器。出国布置茶席时，最常携带自然造型的枯木块，可随时随地搭配在地的青苔花木。
我平日选用的花类不多，除了梅兰竹菊四君子，大多以白为主调。曾在夏天的剧场茶会用了五十盆白荷，冬日的茶会用了七株老白梅，春日茶会在剧场里植了近百棵六米高的桂竹，最后以一树八米高的枯木为华山茶会划下句点。
这两年来因考量水资源的匮乏，鲜少从事大型花木布场活动，愈发能体会小盆山水的灵性。茶书院的小植栽多来自于黄淑女和余舜德两位绿手指，在近年的茶席上，十分引人注目。书院的同学也开始尝试为自己日常的茶席植养些花草，像对待无声的宠物，得定时定量给予修剪照顾，很符合茶人的修行。
偶尔途经茶区在郊野中得到灵感，回到茶室不妨找只古拙的容器，用几枝草花来个写意插，添增茶室的季节感。
我想，草木在天地间自然蕴藉，能提醒茶人随时保有谦冲的姿态，毕竟人生寄世，转眼攸忽而过，有时还不如一株小草自在自得。
