There are many versions of the Pot roast, and although each one does it differently, the basic recipe is 牛肉, carrots, potatoes and celery. My favorite and often made is this one with more herbs and spices. The main flavor enhancers are parsley, thyme, rosemary, oregano and red wine.
It looks like a lot of ingredients, but the actual operation is very simple and does not require any cooking skills. In this way, a pot can be eaten by many people, which is suitable for many people in the family or if you want to make a lot at one time and save it to eat slowly. It is delicious even reheated.
On the selection 牛肉, American stew is suitable for fat and lean parts with less fascia. Such as Chuck, Brisket and Round.

2-3 pounds 牛肉 beef
牛肉 Seasoning:
1/2 Tbsp salt / salt

3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
3 sweet onions, thickly sliced / sweet onions

2 cups 牛肉 broth / beef broth
1 cup red wine / red wine
1 Tbsp spicy sauce / Worcestershire sauce
4 Tbsp. corn starch / corn starch

<How to>
1. Mix 牛肉 seasoning in a bowl, then spread evenly on both sides of 牛肉
2. Turn on the Saute function of the Instant pot. After the inner pot is heated, add about 1 Tbsp of olive oil, fry both sides of 牛肉 until browned, about 2-3 minutes, take out 牛肉.
3. Add unsalted butter to the pot, scrape off the seasoning sticking to the bottom with a wooden spatula, add the onion, saute until fragrant, put it on the steaming rack that came with the pot, and place 牛肉 on the rack. Add garlic, 牛肉 stock, red wine and soy sauce.
4. Wrap the potatoes and carrots with tinfoil respectively, put them in the pot, and set high pressure for 1 hour.
5. After 1 hour, switch to Saute function to collect juice: Take 牛肉 and cut it into large pieces, add potatoes and carrots to the pot. Mix cornstarch and water evenly and pour into a pot to thicken, about 5 minutes.
Tips
- If you like spicy food, you can add some paprika to enhance the taste
- 牛肉 Try to choose thicker ones, which are not easy to boil. The potatoes and carrots are also wrapped in foil to prevent overcooking.
