As an "old student", I stayed in the central part of China for more than three years and suffered a lot when I first arrived: I was cheated when I bought a car, I was cheated by the landlord when I rented a house, I was pulled over by the police and I was warned that I didn't understand the rules... It's funny and sad in retrospect. Now I am seriously writing a small paper, hoping to really help the new friends who are about to come to the big cornfields in the middle of the United States👇 Many daily routines have been mentioned in other listings and articles. Here I just want to mention a few tips: 1. Don't bring so many clothes (and the quilt your mother is worried that you have to bring)! Nine times out of ten, you will replace (re-buy) it after you come. 2. It is not convenient to buy medicines in the United States. Many medicines must have a prescription before you can buy them. For example, the antibiotics amoxicillin and cephalosporin that we can often buy in China are recommended to be bought in China. 3. Children who wear beauty contact lenses or invisible ones are best to bring them after stocking up a lot in China, because in the United States these are also available with a prescription. It is not difficult to say that it is easy to say that it is not difficult to buy a prescription for contact lenses. It's better to bring it yourself (and the beauty contact lenses in China are better 😉) Well, the above are all small problems that can be solved simply by mentioning them. Next is a reminder for the poor children in the middle of the United States: 1. The central part of the United States is a cornfield. It is completely different from the cool and carnival America you see in China. In the daytime city in the central part, there are few pedestrians. The whole city is silent around 9 o'clock in the evening. Many Chinese restaurants They all close between 10:00 and 11:00. Be prepared to face only McDonald's and Dominos (pizzeria), but on weekends there are still some special restaurants that will open until 2:00 in the morning, such as some ramen restaurants and Chinese restaurant offering late night kebab service on weekends 😿 2. Learn to drive, listen to what your parents say The driver's license will be mailed to your address by the DMV. The US DMV is inefficient. The queue time is quite long. Master the driving skills and take the test quickly to avoid wasting time. Public transportation in the middle of the United States is not well developed. Owning a car will be your only option and the most convenient way of life. In the United States, the traffic rules are a bit different from those in China. Be sure to study the road signs well before the test. So what if you're still being followed by a police car with lights on? First you need to pull over and take your hands off the steering wheel This time! Absolutely do not get off! (Personal lesson) Naive, when I was pulled over for the first time, I got out of the car in a daze and was warned by two policemen with guns drawn. Then I went back to the car. Later, I was thankful that the police uncle found out that I was a first-time offender and gave me a warning when I was young and ignorant ( warning) but after thinking about it, I still feel ashamed When buying a car, try to choose a regular dealer (dealer). If you want to buy a second-hand car from a senior or senior, bring friends as much as possible. Sign contracts and agreements. Use text instead of voice for WeChat or SMS contact. Keep all details. 3. Universities in the middle of the United States have dormitories, usually quadruple rooms. If you really don’t like dormitories and want to go out and rent a house, no! want! rent! house! 💔 Maybe many people think that a few friends are very happy to live in a house together, but renting a house has many troubles: the garden lawn needs to be taken care of by yourself, there is no property, basically everything has to contact the landlord (or agent), the security deposit is expensive (and generally There is no return), you need to buy your own furniture, etc. Renting an apartment will save trouble. Many have property management, some communities have access control, and most communities have patrol cars. Although you also need to buy furniture yourself, the cost of purchasing a small apartment will not be too high (unless you are also as smart as I am). Care about life (self) living (discussing) ritual (suffering) style (eating) feeling) 4. Contact the Chinese Students' Union of our school. The Chinese Students' Association (CSSA) is an organization dedicated to serving Chinese students. Generally, it will provide a lot of local information, and there will also be many activities and opportunities for you to meet new friends😋 5.
