After reading "The Fifteen Years of Wanli", I became interested in Zhang Juzheng, the first assistant, and happened to find this historical novel.

The book consists of four volumes, 3210,000 characters,100Chapter. The writing style is the vernacular novel of the four famous novels, but there are not so many poems interspersed in it. There are a lot of details written, about some regulations in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, and a lot of social style.

But this book is not history! It's still a novel, it's a book“Romance” . And the book clearly sees the author's protection of Zhang Juzheng.

Zhang Juzheng has been criticized for colluding with Feng Bao, using his cronies, and being unclear with the Empress Dowager.

These are inevitably mentioned in the book. But it is clear that the author is trying to glorify these.

For example, whenever it is written that Zhang Juzheng and Feng Bao exchange messages, they even agree to appoint Feng directly in order to win over Feng Bao. The author will take the trouble to stress that Zhang Juzheng secretly sent people to collect the mistakes of these related households and then wipe them out. But later these people's sacks are often not brought out by Zhang actively.

For example, when Zhang Juzheng first served as the first assistant, the author on the one hand hinted at the empress dowager's affection for him, and on the other hand arranged a jade girl to become Zhang Juzheng's true love. Many times I have written about how Zhang Juzheng loves this lady....I am a little speechless.

Overall, it's a good historical novel and worth reading.
