你见过隐形的大猩猩吗？几年前，哈佛大学心理学家丹尼尔·西蒙斯带领一队研究生拍摄了一段制作略显粗糙的一分钟视频，很快引起大家关注。在这段视频里，分别由三位选手组成两组互传篮球。一组穿白色的T恤衫；另一组穿黑色的。观看者计算穿白色T恤衫小组的传球次数——忽略穿黑色T恤衫小组的传球活动。为了使这个活动更巧妙、更复杂化，两个小组围成一圈进行传球活动，所以观看者必须仔细观察。
视频过半的时候，一个打扮成黑猩猩的女子径直走进选手组成的圆圈里，不断做出捶击胸部的动作，然后又走开了。视频结束后，观看者的反应达到惊人的一致。当被问到他们是否注意到有什么不同寻常的事情时，至少有一半儿的观看者表示没有发现。他们根本没发现屏幕正中间的那只黑猩猩。当他们回看视频时才发现这只猩猩，他们惊呆了。这是怎么回事呢？
