《极0品美学》：作者早年曾受康德、黑格尔美学的深刻影响，但后来渐渐对他们过于庞大而抽象的构架产生疑惑，转而倾心于另一位德国美学家莱辛的“极0品解析”方式，并认为这种方式更接近于中国传统美学。本书选取了很难被其他民族真正掌握的三个极0品美学标本——书法、昆曲、普洱茶，进行专业化解析，从内容到形式都体现了中国美学的独特魂魄。
《写碑译典》：收录了作者所写的一些重大古迹的碑文和题额，以及用现代散文翻译的庄子《逍遥游》、屈原《离骚》、苏轼《赤壁赋》（前、后）和佛教《心经》，同时辅以作者的相关书法作品。

余秋雨
一九四六年八月生，浙江人。早在“文0革”灾难时期，针对以“样板戏”为旗号的文化极端主义，勇敢地潜入外文书库建立了《世界戏剧学》的宏大构架。灾难方过，及时出版，至今三十余年仍是这一领域唯一的权0威教材。
在担任领导职务六年之后，连续二十三次的辞职终于成功，开始孤身一人寻访中华文明被埋没的重要遗址。所写作品，往往一发表就轰传社会各界，既大力推动了文化古迹保护，又开创了“文化大散文”的一代文体，模仿者众多。
二十世纪末，冒着生命危险贴地穿越数万公里考察了巴比伦文明、克里特文明、希伯来文明、阿拉伯文明、印度文明、波斯文明等一系列重要的文化遗址。他是迄今全球唯一完成此举的人文学者，一路上对当代世界文明作出了全新思考和紧迫提醒，在海内外引起广泛关注。
他所写的大量书籍，长期位居全球华文书排行榜前列。白先勇先生说：“余秋雨先生是唯一获得全球华文读者欢迎而历久不衰的大陆作家”。在台湾，他囊括了白金作家奖、桂冠文学家奖等等几乎全部文学大奖。
