Content Description

《中国纹样》出版于1867年，是英国当时先锋建筑家与设计师欧文?琼斯根据历史上的The South Kensington museum/南肯辛顿博物馆(现为Victoria and Albert Museum /维多利亚和阿尔伯特博物馆）部分中国收藏品和部分其他中国古董图案绘制而成，共收图版百幅。此次推出中文版《中国纹样》，将分两部分，前半部分将书中的所有图片还原印刷，令读者可以欣赏到欧文*初所选作品的精美样态。后半部分则由本社选择近30余幅书中的精美纹样，以素色线描的方式呈现于读者眼前，读者可根据自己的喜好填色，勾勒，形成各色各样的彩色纹样。其中还有一篇欧文?琼斯关于中国纹饰的研究文章，以及有关每幅图版的解说。

Author Description

欧文?琼斯（1809.2.15-1874.4.19），出生于英国，一位多才多艺的建筑师和设计师，19世纪很有影响力的设计理论者。他也是现代色彩理论的先锋，其关于平面图案和装饰的理论至今激起当代设计者的共鸣。19世纪50年代曾任教于伦敦的南肯辛顿设计学院，同时也是1851年世界工业博览会的建筑师之一。1852年他受命担任新水晶宫的设计总监。出版作品有《The illuminated books of the Middle Ages /中世纪装饰图案》、《The grammar of ornament/世界装饰经典图鉴》等。

Book Abstract

欧文·琼斯，1809 年2月15日，出生于英国一个威尔士古董商人的家中。当时正是新古典主义思潮占据主导的时代，“朴素的”“洁白的”建筑和设计风格显示了人们对于理性的向往。然而，后来的发现却表明古希腊建筑最初是彩色的。作为一位颇具野心的年轻建筑师，琼斯迫切地想要学习和研究古典建筑的装饰色彩案例，这大概也是他聪慧而浪漫的水瓶座总是追求创新和独一无二的天性使然。他先后于卡尔特修道院和皇家艺术学院学习，并师从于建筑师乌里亚米(Vulliamy)。23 岁时，他进行了一次伟大的旅行，游经意大利、希腊、埃及、土耳其等。最后，琼斯搭乘法国军舰到了西班牙。西班牙华美的穆斯林装饰艺术令他着迷，他和朋友在阿尔罕布拉宫一丝不苟地学习了6 个月，制作了几百幅素描和石膏模型。不幸的是他的朋友后因霍乱死去，琼斯把他的尸体送回了法国，然后返回伦敦着手出版他们的作品。1836 年，他出版了Plans, Elevations, Sectionsand Details of the Alhambra 一书，其中有大量关于阿尔罕布拉宫的平面、立体图，向人们展示了其精美的局部和细节，是当时关于伊斯兰装饰最有影响力的出版物之一。

中国新近的战争，以及太平天国运动，使许多公共建筑或夷为废墟，或横遭洗劫；大量富丽精美的装饰艺术品亦因此流入欧洲。这些作品前所未见，其夺人目者，不仅在工艺的精能，亦在色彩的和谐与装饰的通体之完美。
以下图版乃是我于研究范围内搜集到的各类新式纹样，相信我没有让这一艺术的任何重要类型成为遗珠。
我有幸接触到南肯辛顿博物馆的国宝级藏品，以及莫里森先生无与伦比的私人珍藏。他时常将那些出现在国内的精粹之作纳入囊中。此外还有路易斯先生在南肯辛顿展出的私藏，以及麦•迪格比•怀亚特先生、科尔•德•拉鲁、托马斯•沙佩尔先生、F•Q•瓦尔德先生、尼克松、罗兹等诸先生的私人藏品。我特别要感谢德拉克先生和韦勒姆女士的慷慨相助，使我得以在工作室里安心地完成临摹。
