古代，人们为了抵御外族的入侵，筑起了巍峨的长城；今天，人体为了防止恶劣环境的侵袭，需要筑起坚固的免疫围墙。这堵围墙的原料就是人体所需的六大营养素：蛋白质、脂肪、碳水化合物、维生素、矿物质和水。任何一种元素都有它的营养价值，人体缺一不可，需全面均衡地提供。
蛋白质提供人体必需的氨基酸，是构成和修补身体中组织与细胞的主要成分，也是构成免疫细胞的主要材料，能帮助杀死病菌，相当于围墙的砖；维生素c、维生素E、β-胡萝卜素（维生素A的主要来源）和矿物质锌、硒等能调节肌体平衡，抗氧化、促代谢，加强免疫细胞的运作，相当于与砖之间的水泥。当人们感受到疲劳和压力或者外界环境剧烈改变时，人体的免疫围墙需要加强“建材”供给营养，来提高墙体的厚度和坚实度，避免原本坚固的围墙变成颓垣败瓦，不堪一击。
