四、国际贸易中的不等价交换
在国际贸易中存在着等价交换和不等价交换两种现象，国际价值量是否相等是衡量等价与否的标准。等价交换就是按照生产产品的国际社会必要劳动量进行的交换。而贸易一方若以低于国际价值量的商品同另一方进行交换，就是不等价交换。国际价值量决定于国际社会必要劳动量或世界劳动的平均单位，所以不等价交换实质上就是不等量劳动的交换。
在国际贸易中，发达国家以高于国际价值的价格出售本国商品，用低于国际价值的价格向发展中国家购进商品，通过不等价交换，无偿占有了发展中国家更多的物化劳动。这种状况将会在相当长的时间里存在，在一国内部，价值规律可以起到劳动分配机制的作用；但在世界市场上，就不存在一个按各国国民经济的需要，在世界范围里重新分配劳动的机制。此外，还因为国际市场中的不完全竞争是国际贸易的重要表现，所以国际贸易中必然还会有不平等交换现象。
国际贸易中不平等交换形成的原因是多方面的，但从历史来看，它是殖民主义的产物，是由资本主义的国际分工和不合理的国际经济秩序决定的。第二次世界大战以后，不等价交换主要来自其他政治和经济上的原因：在政治上，发达国家经常通过暴力、霸权或“军事援助”、“经济援助”等手段，强迫被占领国或受援国既要以低于国际价值的价格出售产品，又要以高于国际价值的价格购入进口产品。在经济上，国际垄断组织可以借助于垄断来进行不等价交换，包括垄断发展中国家进出口商品的价格，不断扩大制成品和初级产品之间的“剪刀差”，垄断发展中国家进口贸易的批零价格和出口物资的收购价格，赚取中间差价，以及垄断发展中国家的航运和保险等手段。
在计算不等价交换时，一般把贸易条件作为计算不等价交换的一个极为重要的指标。
