Book Abstract

第一节古典时期的心理学：诺斯替教、特尔图良和奥瑞金
自从有世界历史以来，心理学就一直相伴相生。但是，客观心理学却是最近才发展起来的。在早期科学中，因为研究者的主观因素占有相当大的比例，所以客观心理学的发展受到了遏制。因此，古代学者的著作中虽然充斥着心理学，但这些内容几乎没有一点与客观心理学有关。这在相当大的程度上是由于古典时期和中世纪的人们之间人际关系的限制造成的。古典时期，多数人认为（如果允许我这样说的话）自己的同胞只具有生物学价值。这种情况在古代的司法和民众的生活习惯中随处可见。
到了中世纪时期，人们对同胞的评价则完全建立在感性的基础上。这种完全相反的评价可以看成是对古典时期个体价值判断的一种补偿，但这种评价与生物学价值的评价一样有害无益。而如何评价个体价值又是客观心理学的重要基础。尽管有不少人认为心理学是很权威性的东西，但是，今天的我们也都深信，客观心理学毕竟要以观察和实践为基础，倘若可能的话，这一基础应是很理想的。但是科学的目的并不在于对事实进行最精确的描述——科学在这方面不能与电影和摄影媲美——它只能在发现规律的过程中来达到它的目的，而规律只是对多样而且相互联系着的过程的简单表现。
我们能看见色彩，但是却看不见波长。这一众所周知的事实在心理学中被看得如此重要，其他任何领域都无法比拟。个人主观因素的作用早在观察行为当中就开始产生影响了。举例来说，我们只能看见我们自己所最易见到的东西。因而，我们最先的举动是薄于责己而厚于责人。毫无疑问，别人的小毛病确实存在，但是我们自己身上的大缺陷也真实不虚，并且——它很可能或多或少地会影响我们的视野和视角，基于此，我对所谓客观心理学中的“纯粹观察”一说表示怀疑。真要做到“纯粹观察”，除非我们完全把自己局限在测时器中，或局限于测力器及诸如此类的“心理学”器械上。凭借这种方法，一个人也许可以避免自己的主观意识在心理学研究中造成的尴尬。但是在各种观察的表现或交流之中，个人的心理倾向却更为重要，也就更不消说对经验材料的阐释和概括了！正如我们常常强调的那样，心理学中的最基本要求是：在任何地方都必须使观察家和研究者恰如其分地关注他的客体，也就是说他既要主观地看待客体，更要客观地看待客体。那种“使他只是客观地看待问题”的要求纯粹是一派胡言，因为那是不可能的。要想实现主观的观察和解释与心理学对象在客观上达到吻合，有一个前提：客观事实不再被主观地看作是具有普世性的特点，而是将客观事实放在具体的条件下进行思考，只有这样，我们说主、客观的吻合才具有意义，客观事实才能成为研究的依据。
重新认识和认真考虑一般知识的主观局限和特殊心理知识的主观局限，对于科学精确地评价一种心理状态是非常重要的条件，特别是当这种心理状态完全不同于观察主体的心理状态时，这一条件就尤为重要。只有当观察者完全了解自身f9+性情况和本质时，这一基本条件才算具备。但是，只有当他在很大程度上使自己摆脱了集体观念和集体情感的强大影响，并因此获得了对他自己的清晰概念时，他才可能完全了解他自己。

Introduction

这本书是我在实用心理学领域工作20年来的全部总结。书中逐步形成了一个理论框架，同时这本书也是我在治疗无数精神病和神经病方面的经验结晶。书中包含了我和社会各阶层人士交往的细节。因此，它也是我本人与朋友和仇敌打交道的一个记录。最后要提到的一点就是，它使我对自我心理特征的批判获得了更深刻的认识。
我不想用庞杂的资料来增加读者的负担。但是，我有责任用我们已经获得的知识，从历史和专业的角度把这些从实践中得来的经验和理念联系起来。
我这样做并非是出于什么历史使命感，只是想把一个医学专家的经验带出狭窄的专业范围，使它产生更广泛的影响，使那些受过教育的心理学的外行人也能够将心理学领域这一专门的经验运用到自己的生活之中。如果我不坚信本书所表达的心理学观点具有广泛的意义和用途，如果我不相信把这门科学引入生活实际要比使它囿于专业的科学假设中更好，那么我是绝不敢斗胆进行这种拓展的。况且，这样做还有可能被人们误解为侵占到其他领域去了。
从这一目的出发，我在书中非常有节制地将心理学领域中几位著名大家的思想做了比较，而将那些狭隘地论及我们话题的内容略去不谈，否则，如果我费了好大气力把所有相关材料和观点按照要求进行编排归类，那么，当这样的编排目录完成后，这些材料对我们问题的讨论和解决反倒不会有更大的贡献。所以，我毫不遗憾地省略了我在多年的研究中收集起来的许多资料，从而尽可能地把精力集中在主要的论点上。
不过，让我稍感欣慰的是，有一些曾给过我巨大帮助和最有价值的文献得到了利用，这就是我与住在巴塞尔的朋友—汉斯？斯切米德（HansSchmid）博士—就心理类型问题进行切磋的大批往来信件。通过这些信件的思想交流，我收获很多。所以，我心存感激地将这些信件中的大部分做了一定的调整，把其中的大部分内容写进了我的著作。这些通信实际上属于一个准备阶段，它的内容有些凌乱，但是，还是亏了我这位朋友，我才得以写成这本书，在此谨向他表示我衷心的感谢！
