Author Description

科林·费尔森，英国谢菲尔德哈勒姆大学心理咨询教授。1950年出生于伦敦，1977年取得圣安德鲁斯大学神学学位，1978-1979年在洛杉矶开始最初的心理治疗工作。1981年与温迪·屈莱顿和理查德·纳尔逊－琼斯一同完成阿斯顿大学的心理咨询训练，1995年成为专职咨询师和大学教师，设计和教授心理咨询和治疗的课程。他组织过四年一度的英国心理咨询和治疗协会（BACP）会议。已出版20多本专著，发表多篇论文，曾与加拿大、芬兰、德国、英国等多国的众多咨询服务机构和大学合作。
温迪·屈莱顿，英国伦敦大学金史密斯学院心理治疗研究所教授。已撰写多部著作，目前的专业兴趣是在心理咨询中运用幽默促进来访者的思考、学习和改变。

如果你的来访者处于行动阶段，你要与其保持同步。有的人可能在找你做咨询前已经做过一些咨询，可能已经了解自己的问题也清楚他们想做什么。他们准备好要采取行动，再做探索就会令他们感到不耐烦。千万不要错误地认为来访者的这种态度是在以一种防御性的方式拒绝进行深入的自我探索！这其中可能存在微妙的感情，但是在短期心理咨询中，我们主张你要着重于来访者现在关心的问题，直到他们（或许）转向其他事情！因此，如果来访者说，“我想我需要换份工作了”，不要立即认为这是在逃避现实或代表其他的问题。先仔细了解一下。“我想知道你现在的工作怎么样，你更喜欢什么样的工作？”最好紧接着就问“要找另一份工作，那么你已经做了些什么呢？”而不要问“你肯定那就是你希望的吗？当人们处于混乱状态时，最好不要去改变周围的事物，除非他们的内部问题得到了解决。”千万不要否定来访者的现实情况。这与那种压抑你认为来访者是希望通过换份工作从而过上一种幻想中的更好生活的直觉是不同的。一切要从来访者的现实情况出发。
