这本书的影响范围之广是我当初未曾想到的。我在中国人民大学讲授“货币银行学”等课程时，课间经常会有学生捧着《雅思8分万能作文》来找我确认，是否就是该书的作者。每次看到广大学生在英语方面付出的艰苦努力，我都会情不自禁地想，能否在繁忙的教学与科研之余，再腾出一点时间为这些可爱的同学们提供一些帮助，在有效的时间内快速提升他们的雅思写作实力，为他们的出国留学提供帮助。
确实，在雅思考试中，广大考生觉得最难拿到高分的就是作文部分。而作文部分又是申请国外大学录取委员会最看重的一项，原因很简单，一个英文写作能力低的学生，很难适应在国外大学的学习生活。
为什么要为考生写一本可以保过8分的作文书呢？
有三点主要原因：
首先，最重要的是，英国雅思评分机构（剑桥考试委员会）对写作要求和具体的评分标准每隔一段时期会有不同程度的变化，而中国考生往往并不真正了解这些微妙变化。广大考生如果继续延用以往的写作技巧，或者死记硬背一些并不符合雅思最新作文要求的作文，是很难达到理想分数的。本书完全从剑桥考试委员会的最新要求出发，为考生提供最权威的示范文章，并且每篇范文都给出了详细的阐释，让考生和英语学习者真正把握写作高分的实质。
