莫里斯·布朗肖（Maurice Blanchot），法国著名作家、思想家，1907年生于索恩-卢瓦尔，2003年逝世于巴黎。布朗肖一生行事低调，中年后不接受采访与摄影，但他的作品和思想影响了整个法国当代思想界，对法国许多大知识分子和大作家如乔治·巴塔耶、列维纳斯、萨特、福柯、罗兰·巴特、德里达等都影响深远。

《布朗肖作品集：死刑判决》：

事发于1938年，现在说起，仍令我辗转反侧。我曾屡次尝试诉诸笔端。若是就此笔耕不辍，一定是心怀期望用一本本书终结这一切。若是写出一篇篇小说，这些小说一定诞生于文字面对真相抽身而退之际。
我不惧真相，也不怕吐露秘密，只是希望文字不会一直这样苍白无力、诡诈多变。我知道，文字在用它的难以捉摸警告我：更高贵的做法是不去打扰真相，最符合真相本意的态度是让它一直隐藏。但现在，我希望尽快做个了断。结束这一切也很高贵、很重要。
不过，必须得说，我的确成功过一回。1940年7月的最后一周，也或许是8月的第一周，我因慵懒而精神迟滞，正是在这种状态下写出了故事。但在写完重读后，我销毁了手稿，现在甚至想不起它的篇幅。
这故事与别人无关，我将了无牵绊、坦率直陈。
实际上，恐怕用十个词就能讲完。这故事的可怕之处就在于此。有十个词要说。九年来，我一直顽固抵抗着这十个词语。不过今天早上，我深信自己将会写出那些原本不该写出的文字；同时，让我吃惊的是，今天刚好是10月8日，很接近多年前一切肇端的那个日期。好像很久以前我就下决心这么做了。
见证事情经过的人不少，但只有一个——最可信的那个——瞥见了真相。事情发生在……大街15号的公寓，我过去经常往那里打电话，起初频繁，之后少些。我甚至一度住在那儿。那姑娘的妹妹在公寓里又逗留了些时日，后来呢？靠绅士们献殷勤讨生活，她喜欢这么说。现在，我想，她死了。
生命的全部意志和力量好像都给了她姐姐。她们家原是有产阶级，后来光景惨淡：1916年父亲被杀；母亲独自料理制革厂，懵懵懂懂地就破了产。此后她再婚，嫁了个养牲口的，某天他们俩放弃各自的产业，在第十五区的某条街盘下一家葡萄酒屋。他们一定是在那里赔掉了所有钱。原则上，两个女儿也拥有制革厂的部分产权。一家人经常因经济问题激烈争吵。
准确地说，为大女儿的健康问题，B夫人多年来没少花钱，为此她经常没心没肺地责怪女儿。
