《林中小屋》是赫拉巴尔传记体三部曲之三。《林中小屋》写的是从赫拉巴尔的第一本书问世到他的《花蕾》遭禁销毁、他和妻子移居林中小屋的经历。《底层的珍珠》出版后，他成了畅销书作家，每本书一出版即销售一空，随之而来的是各方的邀请，出席各种讲座、新书签名等活动。但因为他生性内向害羞，在讲座的前一天，他会开始焦躁不安，甚至想办法逃避……60年代末，伴随着接踵而至的苏联坦克，捷克文化改革的湮灭和70年代的正常化，赫拉巴尔们幻灭、堕落和衰老的时期也来临了……

Author Description

博胡米尔·赫拉巴尔（Bohumil Hrabal），1914~1997，这位法学博士为自己设计的一生是这样的：大学毕业后服兵役，做推销员、仓库管理员、炼钢工、废纸回收站打包工、舞台布景工……四十九岁时第一部作品才得以出版，而此后获得国内、国际奖项有三十多个。他的作品多数被改编为话剧和电影。与小说《严密监视的列车》同名的电影于1966年获奥斯卡最佳外语片奖。根据另一部小说《售屋广告：我已不愿居住的房子》改编的电影《失翼灵雀》获1990年柏林影展最佳影片金熊奖。1997年2月3日，这位原本即将病愈出院的作家从医院五楼窗口坠落身亡。
赫拉巴尔的作品大多描写普通、平凡、默默无闻、被抛弃在“时代垃圾堆上的人”。他对这些底层人物寄予同情与爱怜，并且融入他们的生活，发现他们心灵深处的美。他的小说是最具捷克味的作品。
