最后一只书虫东瑞那家位于二楼的书店，奇怪在人们印象中还算不错，近日，突然宣布“执笠”了。
晚上十时许，老板和老板娘关起门，整理着堆满图书的信道，不断叹气、情绪沮丧地闲聊。年轻的老板说：“只怪我们人缘太好……”老板娘惊愕地望着他：“怎么？人缘好反而倒闭么？这十足是谬论嘛。”“算你聪明一世，糊涂一时。”老板道，“人缘好，我们朋友多，心软，送的书比卖的还多！”“谁叫你送！”老板娘没有好声气的。
“他们摸了半天，喜欢得不得了，又不肯掏出钱来，还不是巴望你送？”老板娘听了也气起来了：“嗯，仿佛书就不是商品，一本书不需要成本似的。要拿就拿，要讨就讨，从来不客气。特别是我们出版社出的那些——有些人根本当你是不必花钱的东西，。顺手牵羊，不是说‘我喜欢这本’，就是说‘我要这本，给我这一本好吗？”’“你知道就好了！”老板接着又说，“有时相熟了更不客气，要求你打折，打得越低越好，恨不能有一折两折的折扣——书业这么难了，他们仍在压价。最恼火的是走的时候顺手牵羊，不必开发票。”“什么爱书人、读书人？”老板娘摇摇头，“如果连一本书都舍不得买，算什么读书人？”两公婆你一言我一语，不断发牢骚。
忽然老板又说：“严格说来，书当然不是纯商品，它还载着意识哩——属于文化商品，难怪有人堂堂正正不付钱——不像走进电器行，一副耳机也不会白送！”“你这是怪论。”老板娘摇摇头。
“正是这怪论导致我们今天要关门。我统计了一下，这半年送人的书比卖出去的还多呢！”老板娘情绪愈发沮丧：“事到如今，我也认命了。这辈子我有两次嫁人的大失败，一次，是嫁给了你这文化人，第二次，又随你嫁给了这些书。如果当初我明智，不考虑你，我过的日子哪会像今天这般清苦！”见老婆竟伤心流泪，老公有点儿慌了，安慰她道：“我们会好起来的，会好起来的，不必急。天下的人不是都那么衰的。如今市道清淡，岂独书市难做？”……第二天清晨十时半，他们继续整理，书店大门紧闭。这时忽听到急促的敲门声。老板开了门，一个中年男人拿了张书单进来，单上有三十本之多。老板费了一番功夫一一替他找出来，笑说：“不必付钱了，拿去吧！”中年人大吃一惊：“这怎么可以？都这样的话，你们还不破产？”“那就打五折吧！”“不行，我要原价买，一分钱的折扣我都不要。书业这么难做——我原价买三十本，算不了什么支持……”中年人走后，老板对妻子说：“关了门之后，我们重新来过吧！”妻睁了眼问：“做什么生意？”老板说：“开书店。”妻苦笑中，老公又道：“真正的读书人原来还没死光。”活鱼的水面不结冰闵凡利入了冬，我很少赶集。我们这儿的集说起来就是一处农贸市场。有的地方说场，有的地方说圩，我们这儿说集市。后来嫌带着个“市”拗口，就干脆把后面的“市”省略，叫“集”了。
集是老集，年代很久了，具体起于什么年代，也无从考证了。集在我们闵楼村的西面，十天四个，一、四、六、九。
恰巧是九的这一天，妻子要烙煎饼，早早地就去打糊了。妻子在走之前安排说，我分不开身了，你去赶集吧。这两天，儿子想吃鱼，你看着买一条吧。领了老婆的圣旨，我不敢怠慢，急匆匆地来到村西的集市。天虽冷，人还是不少，大家都急急慌慌地购买着自己需要的物品。我首先来到了鱼市。
我在一个摊点前站住了，因为这个老板卖的是活鱼。我看中了一条白鲢鱼，是里面活得最欢的一条，也是最大的一条。一称，三斤半。好，就这条。
把鱼拎回了家，老婆看我买了这么大的一条鱼，忙把洗衣服的大铁盆端出来。我忙把鱼放进去。鱼入了大盆，一个翻身，用尾巴“啪啪”地拍了拍水，舒展着自己。
看着鱼儿的游动，我的心禁不住抖动起来。鱼啊鱼，你知道我为什么买你回家吗？就是因为想吃你的肉啊，吃了你，我和我的孩子们才能身体强壮，脑筋灵活，才能有更多的精力去做一些我们自认为有意义的事。
鱼是不知道我此时的心理的，只是在水中来来回回地游动，快乐而幸福。在这条鱼身上，我看到了从容和平静，坦然和热爱。
快要入九的天，在我们鲁南一带，已是滴水成冰。中央电视台《天气预报》说今晚将有一场寒流从北向南，影响我国东南部。据预测，明天我们这儿的温度将达零下六七度了。
等我醒来的时候，天已大亮了。老婆早就起床了，正在做着她揽的一些加工的活计。我忙穿衣起床。打开屋门，一股寒意扑面而至，我激灵灵地打了个冷战。妻子说，多穿点衣服吧，今天特冷。
我只好又加了件厚线衣。走出屋门的时候心里才感觉到有了底气。外面是白茫茫的一片，好像下了一地的雪，我知道，那是霜，是湿气遇冷而显现出的状态。脚下的土路铁硬铁硬的，有着金属的质地，完全失去了柔性的亲和力。
所有的水都结冰了，生机在冬日里低下了不可一世的头颅。面对大自然，所有的生机都只有叹气。我就想大自然的强大，任我们谁也抗拒不了。在大自然面前，人真是太渺小了。
我猛然想起昨天买的鱼——那条在水盆里欢腾的鱼。在这么冷的漫漫长夜里，一定会冻死啊！我忙向盛鱼的水盆走去，水盆在自来水龙头旁。水龙头已经冻住了，再也流不出一滴水了，只流着一段长长的冰凌，几个有水的盆里也都结着冰。
可有鱼的那个盆里，水还是像昨天上午那样清澈着，一点儿冰凌也没有。鱼儿在自由自在地游，很欢实，欢得一个水盆里都是生机了。
我很惊喜。这个盆里的水怎么没结冰呢？我问妻子，妻子看了一眼鱼，说：“还是写东西的人呢，这一点都看不出来？因为这个盆里有鱼。
你看鱼的这个欢腾劲儿，水面能结冰吗？”
