Book Abstract

照相馆的丘老板今年已六十岁。老伴在十几年前离世时，他失去了一个好帮手，加上生意清淡，本来就要把照相馆结束掉，但他舍不得，就这么保持到现在。尽管已几乎没有什么生意，他还是每天准时早上九点就到照相馆上班。储蓄的老本快要吃光了，一年前他做了一个重大的决定，将六楼的居屋卖掉了。唐楼不值多少钱，但也可吃它几年吧。过几天就是交楼的日子，他就要搬到照相馆来住了。
新儿不久就要三十岁了，当年他读到高中就读不下去。既然对厨艺有兴趣，就把他送到厨艺学院学做厨师，还没毕业。丘老板想，这家照相馆留传给儿子不现实也不合适，会害死他。何况十几年前他牡已多次激烈地劝老爸将它结束，他就是不肯。儿子的话如今还在耳际响着：爸，照相技术大革命，数码机越出越新，照相馆行业这十年来像骨牌连续倒下似的，在我们这个城内倒闭了几十家。如今人人都是摄影家，人人玩自拍。连做证件的相片、全家福的照片都是自己拍了……谁还上我们照相馆照相!照相馆怎么可能还会有生意!……在事实面前，他无法和儿子辩论——是的，早就该结束了。只是四十年来的感情，这儿的每一件过时的工具，包括那些老爷摄影器材，什么蒙头摄影机啦，打光伞啦，老爷椅子啦……都像有生命似的，令他十分留恋、不忍遗弃。记得六十年代末期，他从父亲手中接棒时，父亲就跟他说起转角照相馆的“威水史”——照相馆拍得最多的是全家福。但有一次，一位父亲牵着一个十一二岁的漂亮女孩来此拍合照，他将洗出的相片贴在橱窗里。大约一年后，一个电影公司的老板走过，看中了女孩，联络上父亲，从此，女孩被发掘出来做明星还频频获奖，改变了一生的命运。还有一次，也是一个女孩，不过这次是由母亲带着，年龄更小，约是八九岁光景，拍的是个人照。父亲拍得很满意，见女孩天真可爱，将她的大头像贴在橱窗内。一个著名导演走过，被女孩的笑容吸引住，也走进照相馆，要求见见女孩的母亲，想邀请小女孩做一部电影里的童星。从此，小女孩成了著名的童星，演戏一直演到成年。父亲说，他仍记得，母女家庭经济不好，取相片付款时还要求优惠些呢。两件新闻在报纸上刊登后，非常轰动。一时间，不知多少做明星梦的少女争先恐后到与“明星”有缘的转角照相馆拍照，并要求父亲将相片洗好贴在橱窗内。那几年，照相馆的生意如日中天，转角照相馆的业务处在最顶峰，不知有多少人跟风，也开起照相馆。“什么生意、行业都是有起有落的……你要坚守着。”这是父亲的最后一句话。完全没想到从父亲那里接过手，竟也四十年过去了。他苦苦支撑到现在，已没有退路了，连住屋都卖掉来贴生活费了。儿子的学费他仍在负担呢。
看报纸看到一半，丘老板打起盹，想的竟都是这些不堪回首的陈年旧事。
中午，他叫外卖，一盒饭不过二十元，他也分两餐吃，留一半给晚餐。他将二十元纸钞交到送饭的小伙子手中时，还多给了一枚二元硬币。小伙子将硬币搁在台面上不取。他问：“什么时候搬下来?要帮忙吗?”他答：“后天。家具基本上都不要了。一个小衣柜，较重，帮帮我。其他我一个人就行了。”小伙子问：“阿新毕业了吗?听说在拍拖?”‘再过一个月就毕业，打算一年后就结婚。”小伙子在破沙发上闲坐了一会儿，与丘老板相对无言，站起，向他告辞走了。
住处卖掉后，小新也跟着老爸，在照相馆打地铺。
