Author Description

王安忆，生于1954年，1969年初中毕业，1970年赴安徽插队，1972年考入江苏省徐州地区文工团，1978年调同上海，存《儿童时代》社任编辑。1980年参加中国作协第五期文学讲习所学习，同年年底学习结束回原单位。1987年进上海作家协会任专业作家，2004年调入复旦大学任中文系教授至今。著有《小鲍庄》、《长恨歌》、《启蒙时代》、《天香》等。

《本次列车终点》：
一 “前方到站，是本次列车终点站——上海……” “上海到了。”打瞌睡的人睁开了眼睛。
“到终点站了。”急性子的人脱了鞋，站在椅子上取行李了。
那伙新疆喀市的中年人开始制定活动方案：“找到旅社，首先洗澡。打电话去重型机械厂联系。然后——吃西餐！” “对，吃西餐！”他们全都兴奋起来。这伙人，是从全国各地大学毕业后去到新疆的，有北京人，有福州人，有江苏人。虽然说话还保持着乡音，可从外表到性格却都很象新疆人了：皮肤粗糙，性格豪放。
从南京上车，陈信随意问问他们新疆的情况，他们便兴致勃勃地大谈起来：新疆各个民族是多么风趣，那里的歌儿多么好听，舞多么好看，小姑娘多么活泼。
而他们在那里生活的又是如何有趣：炸鱼，打猎。他们谈锋很健，说的十分有趣，叫人由不得羡慕起他们来。
“小伙子，在上海呆多少时间哪？”其中的北京人拍拍陈信的肩膀。
陈信正对着窗外出神，回过头笑了：“这次来，就不回去了。” “调回来了？” “调回来了。” “老婆孩子呢？” “哪有啊！”陈信红红脸，“要有还能回来？” “真有决心。”他又重重地拍了拍陈信的肩，“你们上海人，离了上海就活不了。” “上海是我们的故乡呀！”他说。
“可除了故乡外，还有偌大个世界呢。” 陈信不说话，笑笑。
“人，要善于从各种各样的生活里吸取乐趣。到哈尔滨，就溜冰；到广州，就游泳；去新疆，吃抓羊肉；去上海，吃西餐……命运把你安排在哪里，你就把哪里的欢乐发掘出来，尽情享受。也许，这就是人生的乐趣吧。” 陈信仍然是笑笑。他心不在焉的，眼睛看着窗外疾速掠过的田野。那是被细心分割成一小块一小块，绣花似地织上庄稼的田野。一片黄，一片青，一片绿，河边边上，还缀着一个紫色的三角形。土地的利用率真高，并且划分得那么精致细巧。看惯北方一望无际辽阔的沃土的眼睛，会觉得有点狭隘和拥挤，可也不得不承认，这里的一切象是水洗过似的清新、秀丽。这就是江南，这就是上海的郊外。哦，上海！火车驶过田野，驶进矮矮的围墙，进市区了。瞧，工厂、楼房、街道、公共汽车、行人……上海，越来越近，越来越具体了。陈信的眼眶湿润了。心，怦怦地跳动起来。十年前，他从这里离开，上海越来越远，越来越渺茫的时候，他何曾想过回来。似乎没有想，可又似乎是想的。在农村，他拉犁，拉耨，收麦，挖河，跑招工，跑招生……后来终于上了师范专科学校，毕业了，分到那个地方一所中学。应该说有了自食其力的工作，有了归宿，努力可以告终，可以建立新的生活。然而，他却没有找到归宿的安定感，他似乎觉得目的地还没到达，没有到达。冥冥之中，他还在盼望着什么，等待着什么。当“四人帮”打倒后，大批知青回上海的时候，他才意识到自己在等什么，目的地究竟是什么。
十年中，他回过上海，探亲，休假，出差。可每次来上海，却只感到同上海的疏远，越来越远了。他是个外地人，陌生人。上海，多么瞧不起外地人，他受不了上海人那种占绝对优势的神气，受不了那种傲视。而在熟人朋友面前，他也同样地受不了那种怜悯和惋惜。因为在怜悯和惋惜后面，仍然是傲视。他又不得不折服，上海是好，是先进，是优越。百货公司里有最充裕、最丰富的商品；人们穿的是最时髦、最摩登的服饰；饭店的饮食是最清洁、最讲究的；电影院里上映的是最新的片子。上海，似乎是代表着中国文化生活的时代新潮流。更何况，在这里有着他的家，他的家，妈妈、哥哥、弟弟、爸爸的亡灵……他噙着眼泪微笑了。为了归来，他什么都可以牺牲，都可以放弃。于是，一听说妈妈要退休，他立即行动起来，首先是要恢复知识青年的身份，至于上学、工作这一段历史，不要了，抹去吧，只要争得几只公章……反正，他打了一仗，紧张而激烈，却是胜利了。
火车进站了，他把窗户推上去，一阵凉风扑面而来，上海的风。他看见了弟弟，小家伙长大了，长得真高，真好看。弟弟也看见了他，跟着火车跑着，笑着叫：“二哥！”他的心不由缩了一下，升起了一丝歉意。可他立即想起十年前，火车开动时，哥哥这么追着火车，给他送行，他的心又平静了。
车停了，弟弟气喘吁吁地追上来了。陈信只顾着和弟弟说话，传行李，也没听见那群快活的中年人在向他告别。
“大哥、大嫂和囡囡都来了，在外头。一份电报只好买一张站台票。二哥，你的东西多吗？” “能对付，姆妈好吧？” “还好，她在家里烧饭。今天早上三点钟她就去买菜。”弟弟说。
