Author Description

褚孝泉，毕业于上海华东师范大学外文系本科，1987年获法国马赛大学法语语言学博士学位，1987年起在上海复旦大学外文学院任教至今主要从事理论语言学、句法学、语义学、社会语言学等领域的研究，出版《中法使用温度》《语言哲学》、《语言科学探源》、《Les verbes modaux en francais》等专著，发表学术论文数十篇。

学习外语者都非常注重词汇的学习，人们也常常以所掌握单词的数量来衡量学习的进程。但是，单词并不是语言交流的基本单位，人们是用句子而不是用单词来表达思想的。如何把单词组合成句子是语言学中句法学研究的问题。句法学是当代语言学中的显学，许多新兴的语言学理论都是围绕或针对句法学而发展起来的。这是因为当代语言学家们常常把语言学研究看作是探索人的心智结构机制的一个途径。句法规律抽象而严格，使用语言者几乎是无意识地遵循着的，这显然是人类大脑内在活动的一个很典型的体现。所以从20世纪中期开始句法学有了非常迅速的发展，取得了丰富的成果。
一、句法学的一些基本概念
中国人学习法语时感到最难的恐怕是法语的词汇形态变化，这往往会使人觉得语言中最重要部分应该是词法了。确实，无论是传统的西方语言学还是为外国人编写的教学语法都把重点放在词法上。但是从普通语言学的观点来看，句法实际上是更为重要的内容，因为词法是一个随不同的语言而具有不同的重要性的语言特征。有些语言的词法变化丰富，如拉丁语和俄语；有些语言则没有很多的词法变化，如汉语和许多东南亚语言。但是所有的语言都必定有严格的句法规则。作为一种符号系统，人类语言是由符号按一定规律串连而组成的，这种规律就是句法。

Introduction

时光荏苒，岁月匆匆，新中国高校法语专业本科教学从1949年成立解放军外国语学院开设法语专业算起，已经近一个甲子的时间了；如果追溯到1898年北京大学成立之初便开设法语专业，可以说已有一百多年历史了。
中国法语百年起起伏伏，几经周折，在经历了文革十年之后，迎来了迅猛发展的春天，作为其显著标志之一的，便是法语教材的编写出版：20世纪80年代上海外国语学院和北京外国语学院先后编写出版了《法语》，各6册，形成了南北呼应之势；1992年北京外国语大学推出的新版《法语》，从编写理念和时代特征上，均有新的进步。
当时代进入21世纪，在中国法语教学期待更大发展的今天，我们突然发现，上述三种教材依然是中国法语教学的主干教材；我们突然意识到，编写一套新理念的系列教材成为新世纪的迫切需要。在这样的当口，上海外语教育出版社罗致了我国法语界的精英力量编写“新世纪高等学校法语专业本科生系列教材”，这是上海外语教育出版社的英明之举，是我国法语界的一件盛事。
