自从到了冬天，一个多月都没有看到雨雪，空气干燥得要命。好不容易等到周末，我和爷爷准备去逛公园，公园里有山有水，想必空气会湿润一些吧。我们正走在路上，突然，一辆汽车从我们身边疾驰而过，马路上顿时飞扬起滚滚的尘土，直到汽车走远了，尘土才慢慢地消失。怎么会有这么多
尘土呢？讨厌！
爷爷看着我苦恼的表情，笑着说：“别这么沮丧！你知道为什么汽车后面会有这么多的尘土吗？”
“不知道。为什么呀？爷爷快告诉我吧。”爷爷的提问激起了我的好奇心。
“别急，不管天气多糟糕，我们的心态一定要好，这样，就算汽车卷起再大的尘土，也不会影响我们的心情。”
听了爷爷的话，我顿时感到有些羞愧，还是多学点知识要紧啊，跟天气和汽车生气是没用的。
“爷爷，还是给我讲讲吧。我知道错了，以后再不会为这些事生气了。”
涡流的形成
爷爷心平气和地说：“好吧，还记得你最喜欢看的《动物世界》电视节目吗？其中有一回讲的是鲸。在茫茫的大海里，一头巨大的鲸游了过来，它的后面激起滚滚的浪花。但是你想想，如果是小鱼儿在水里游动时，水面会不会激起这么大的浪花呢？”
“当然不会。那是为什么呢？”我疑惑地问道。
“这是因为鲸的身体很大，在水中要占据很大的空间，当它往前游时，它所离开的地方马上就会有水补充过来，因此在鲸的尾部常常出现巨大的浪头。而小鱼儿的体积要小得多，在它离开的时候所补充过来的水也很少，所以无法激起浪花。
“同样的道理，汽车也要占据一定的空间，它要排开与自身同体积的空气。当汽车飞快地前进时，在车身刚经过的地方马上就有空气补充过来，因此两旁和后面的空气涌过来形成一股涡流。空气的涡流夹带着马路上的灰尘，紧跟在汽车后面，因此我们就会看到汽车后面飞扬起滚滚尘土。这时候，如果我们把汽车后面的窗子打开，那么气流必然带着尘土，一个劲儿地往车厢里挤，因此汽车后面的窗子大多是不能打开的。”
听了爷爷的讲解，我豁然开朗了：原来是这样啊！我们走路时，就和小鱼儿在水里游动不会激起浪花一样，身体后面也没有什么尘土。原来这些尘土都是涡流形成的呀。
只要有气体或者液体的地方，都是很容易形成涡流的。为了让大家看得更清楚，我们就先做个小实验吧。
实验很简单，我们让一种透明的液体流过一根玻璃管，先在液体里放一些非常轻的粉末，比如石松子粉什么的，然后，我们就可以看到在管子里流着的液体的涡流了。这时候，从管壁向管轴行进的涡流可以看得非常清楚：液体在管子里的流动并不是平行于管轴的，而是有许多涡流从管壁流向管轴。这就是所谓的涡流运动，也叫湍流运动。
