《百年百部中国儿童文学经典书系：小布头奇遇记》：

新年快要到了，幼儿园里好热闹呀！大家都在忙。小朋友忙着练唱歌，练跳舞，还排练一个歌剧——《小白兔种麦子》。在除夕的晚上，小朋友要演出，要请爸爸妈妈、老爷爷老奶奶都来看呢！缝纫组的阿姨也在忙，忙着给小朋友赶做新衣裳。炊事员伯伯也在忙，忙着给小朋友做好吃的东西。
老师就更忙啦：她们要教小朋友唱歌跳舞，还要给小朋友准备新年的礼物。
新年的礼物已经做出好多好多了，都摆在一张大桌子上，上边盖着一张大红纸。红纸上写着五个大字：新年的礼物盖在红纸下边的，都是些什么东西呢？小朋友谁都不知道，老师不让他们看见。到了新年那天一拿出来，小朋友准会高兴得叫起来：“哎呀！……”那多有意思呀！你们也不知道红纸下边盖的是些什么吧？啥，我可知道！那天我到幼儿园去，偷偷掀开红纸看了一眼。哇！真好啊！你们猜猜是些什么？猜不到呀？让我小声告诉你们吧：是玩具！没错儿，红纸下边盖着好几十件玩具！有小黑熊呀，长颈鹿呀，胖小猪呀，瘦猴子呀，洋娃娃呀，还有小汽车，小火车头，拖拉机，喷气式飞机……哎呀，我都说不过来啦！那些玩具可漂亮啦！那些小动物就跟真的一样，是用阿姨裁衣服剩下的布头做的。还有，那些汽车、飞机，好像自己会跑、自己会飞似的！除夕的晚上很快就到了。
除夕，就是说，第二天就是新年，那些玩具就要送到小朋友手里啦！“明天就是新年啦！”有一位老师说，“咱们做了多少件玩具了？对，我得数一数！”这位老师就是小老师。她干吗叫“小老师”呀？这是因为：第一，她姓萧，“萧”和“小”，声音差不多；第二，她是幼儿园里最小的老师。她的年纪，比三个六岁的小朋友加在一起少一岁。你们说，她多大？对啦，她十七岁。
小老师说完，就数起来：“一，二，三，四……”数完了，小老师高兴得一边拍手一边跳。她的辫子也高兴得一跳一跳的。
“哎呀，九十九个！差一个就一百了！差一个就一百了！”“一个也不差了！”戴眼镜的徐老师说。
小老师问：“怎么不差呀？咱们幼儿园，不是有一百个小朋友吗？”徐老师笑着说：“对呀！可是你忘了，咱们的书架顶上，不是还摆着一只小哈巴狗吗？就是让孩子们弄坏了一点儿，缝一缝，还蛮好的！”小老师说：“对啦，我忘了小哈巴狗啦！”别的老师也说：“蛮好，蛮好！九十九加一，等于一百。”老师要回去吃晚饭了，吃了晚饭，她们还得快点儿赶回来。要知道，除夕晚上是这里最热闹的时候呀！不光所有的小朋友都要来，爸爸妈妈们，还有老爷爷老奶奶们，也都要来。大家都要来参加联欢会，看小朋友表演《小白兔种麦子》，老师赶回来还有好多事情要做：她们要给客人预备茶水；要招待小朋友的爸爸、妈妈，老爷爷、老奶奶；在联欢会上，她们还要给小朋友分点心，分水果，还要……徐老师招呼小老师一同走，可是小老师没走。小老师心里想：“给小哈巴狗缝一缝，补一补，这倒很容易。可是这是件旧玩具呀！孩子们早就玩腻了，哪一个小朋友分到了他，都不会欢喜。要是九十九个小朋友都快活，只有一个小朋友不快活，那该多不好啊！对，不管怎么样，总得再做一件新玩具，好让所有的小朋友都快乐！”小老师到处找做玩具的材料，可是材料全用光了。她一个人在屋子里到处转，一会儿拉开抽屉，翻了个底儿朝天；一会儿拉开衣柜的门，找遍了每一个角落；她又跑到书架跟前，把每一本书都打开来，看看里边是不是夹着什么可以做玩具的东西……窗子外面飘着鹅毛似的大雪，天气很冷。小老师可忙得满头大汗。
找来找去，小老师才找出了～丁点儿东西：一片很小的葱绿色的布头，还有一片也是很小的桃红色的布头。葱绿色的布头，是做一个大洋娃娃的裙子剩下的；桃红色的布头，是做那个大洋娃娃的脸蛋儿剩下的。
“唉！”小老师叹了一口气，自言自语地说，“我干吗把那个大洋娃娃做得那么大呀！现在，剩下这么一丁点儿布头，不够做一个布娃娃的了！”小老师坐在桌子前面想了一会，忽然笑眯眯地说：“对啦！我就做一个小不点儿的布娃娃吧！当然喽，他很小。可是我特别用心做，把他做得非常漂亮，非常可爱，不管谁看到，都会喜欢他！”小老师就盘算起来：“桃红色的布头，做小布娃娃的脑袋和身子；葱绿色的布头，给小布娃娃做件小上衣；小布娃娃的裤子……小布娃娃的裤子……唉！小布娃娃的裤子用什么做呢？总不能让他光着屁股啊！”小老师皱着眉头发愁。她一边想，一边在屋子里走来走去。她走到衣柜的前边，看见大玻璃镜子里也有一个小老师。
小老师一站住，大镜子里的小老师也站住了。小老师张开两只手，歪着头问镜子里的小老师：“怎么办呢？”镜子里的小老师也张开两只手，歪着头问：“怎么办呢？”小老师捋捋辫子，使劲儿想。
