农业文化遗产的保护与利用，已经是这个时代赋予我们的重要使命。2007年春天，中国农业博物馆以“农业遗产的保护与利用在三农政策中的地位与作用”为题立项，使作者得以开始全面地思考这个问题。
本书是“农业遗产的保护与利用在三农政策中的地位与作用”的结题成果。本书的出版，还得到了联合国粮农组织“全球重要农业文化遗产动态保护与适应性管理”项目及农业部国际合作交流基金项目的资助。感谢农业部农村经济研究中心郑有贵研究员在课题设计时提出了中肯的建议；感谢中国农业大学高启杰教授百忙之中阐释经济发展与农业文化遗产保护之间的关系；感谢中国农业博物馆闵宗殿研究员提供他关于明清时期水稻品种的研究心得；感谢刘朋飞、吕耀、焦雯珺、苏天旺、孙业红、张丹、张苏、李建萍、肖玉、郑召霞等对本课题的积极参与。成书期间，在与责任编辑李恩军先生的交流过程中，他的许多真知灼见，启发了作者的思路，使本书增色不少。正是有了大家的共同努力，才使本书得以顺利完成。

Book Abstract

由于中西兽医产生的时代背景不同，其理论体系差距很大。中兽医学说产生于科学启蒙时代，主要从整体上把握生命的本质，并在此基础上建立了一套诊断、防治和用药理论。西兽医起源和发展于科学技术的分析时代，从微观上对有机体的认识越来越深入，形成了以分析一归纳为逻辑的医学体系。显然，两者用各自的理论去统一对方都是做不到的。现阶段要深入开展中西兽医结合，认识中兽医学的科学性，学习西兽医现代科学诊断手段，共同提高诊疗水平。中兽医、西兽医两个体系可以长期并存，取长补短，共同发展。
（2）大胆面对2l世纪对中兽医的挑战。中兽医学的基础理论和辨证论治的思想，都是建立于以个体为对象的基础上。20世纪90年代以来，畜禽饲养已普遍进入集约化、规模化、工厂化模式，中兽医面临群体兽医学的挑战。中兽医原来用于个体诊疗的辨证论治理论，能不能适用于群体辨证呢？应该指出，群发性疾病的共性大于个性。因为群发病常常具有相同的病因和较一致的临床表现，差异较小。同时，一个畜禽群体，所处的环境条件对其的影响是比较一致的。且在工厂化、集约化的饲养场中，各个畜禽的品种、年龄、性别是一致的。基于上述原囚，一个畜禽群体所具备的共性，使得它表现出来的临床状态——中兽医的“证”，有很大的一致性。中兽医是对“证”进行辨证的。所以传统中兽医的辨证论治理论，有可能适用群体疾病。
实际上已经有许多中兽医科技工作者在这方面进行了实践，临床针对畜禽流行病、群发病行之有效的中草药制剂，也就是群体辨证探索的成果。21世纪要深入开展这方面的研究，不断总结经验，以丰富发展传统兽医学。现代医学已提出计量医学、“数理医学”的概念，从定性研究转变为定量分析，西兽医的许多诊断标准都是定量指标。而中兽医学是经验科学，它的临床实践的望、闻、问、切四诊技术，主要是一门定性技术，中兽医学的诊断指标，哪怕是半定量的，目前也还难以做到。未来兽医学将走向数字化，中兽医要步入现代化，也要大胆面对这方面的挑战。

遗产保护事业在一定程度上展示了一个国家文明进步的程度和教育科技文化发展的水平。被列入世界遗产名录的文化和自然遗产能够提高一个国家、一个地区和一个城市在世界范围内的知名度，甚至使一些原本默默无闻的地方一夜知名。特别值得一提的是，开展遗产保护教育有助于青年学生乃至全体国民增强对地球自然资源和本民族文化的认同感、自豪感，树立民族的自尊心、自信心，同时也使他们学会在世界多样文化的背景下与其他文化共处，热爱大自然，增强环保和可持续发展意识，这对维护世界和平、促进共同发展有着不可替代的作用。
“2002联合国文化遗产年”之际，世界遗产委员会为纪念《世界遗产公约》30周年而通过的（（世界遗产布达佩斯宣言》明确指出：“努力在保护、可持续性和发展之间寻求适当而合理的平衡，通过适当的工作使世界遗产资源得到保护，为促进社会经济发展和提高社区生活质量作出贡献”。
