在可预见的未来，金融市场的发展和创新，对中国经济的持续发展至关重要。中国经济的发展不能被本次金融危机的危害性所震惊而暂缓计划中的各项金融改革和结构调整。现代经济越来越以金融革命来实现资本效率的充分提高、资本的市场化最佳配置，从而让更多的企业创新和科研成果的市场化和应用成为可能。离开了资本的支持，新兴产业的发展是不可想象的；离开了资本的血液，任何产业发展都将不可持续。金融创新和资本的力量将推动人类从财务自由到生命自由的梦想的实现。
中国需要做的是，对于金融创新，在其创造了充沛的流动性的时候，必须注意让这种流动性符合中国经济增长的潜力，即虚拟经济不能超过实体经济的流动性需求。力求使流动性均衡地配置在总供给和总需求的两端，力求金融供给和金融需求平衡，使资金市场和物品市场的供需平衡。另外，还要严格保证基础金融工具和基础金融产品的高质量、低风险。这是极高的要求！因为中国的银行业和其他非银行金融业的基础金融产品和基础金融工具的质量控制、风险控制尚缺乏制度和技术上的优越性和充分的经验。迄今为止，中国金融业对付风险的最主要办法就是控制、控制、再控制，不惜牺牲金融创新和改革的力度进度。对于中国的金融业而言，全力做好传统的基础的金融业务，完善制度建设，提高风险控制水平和能力，是各项工作和业务的核心。银行业必须进一步加强信贷项目质量控制体系，进一步加强内部控制体系和内部稽核工作，进一步摆脱行政力量的干预，并促进银行业的竞争，消除自然垄断的影响。证券业必须真正树立为投资人创造长期价值的投资理念和一整套做法。基金行业也必须摆脱大散户的做法，做长期投资者和价值投资者的表率；保险信托行业必须加强项目质量控制体系、内部控制和稽核制度建设。只有这些基础工作做扎实了，接下来的创新工作才不用过于担心。
