Author Description

田明，1974年生于河北省康保县。2004年获中国科学院地理科学与资源研究所博士学位。现为北京师范大学社会发展与公共政策研究所副教授，中国社会科学院城市发展与环境研究中心在职博士后。主要从事城市化、区域发展与区域规划等方面的研究工作，已发表论文20余篇。

第一章绪论
一、就业结构与城市化研究的地理视角
地理学研究的主题包括两个方面：格局和过程。所谓格局是指空间结构的格局，空间结构是由不同社会经济“疏”和“密”的带状和面状地域组成的（陆大道，1995），以空间结构分析为基础形成的空间组织理论，旨在揭示人类生产与生活活动空间分布与空间相互作用规律，是经济地理学的核心理论（樊杰等，2001）；空间分布的变化和相互作用的演变过程是地理学研究的基本过程之一。人类经济活动的空间演变过程与经济发展的数量和结构变化过程是互相影响、互相联系的同一历史过程的不同方面，区别仅在于所研究和关注的侧重点不同。
长期以来，地理学、区域科学等学科在关注经济发展的空间变化过程的同时，也对区域经济发展和区域经济结构变化进行了全方位的研究，尤其是空间和区域视野里的城乡结构变化——即城市化，已成为地理学分支学科城市如地理学和经济地理学的重点研究内容。经济学虽然长期以来忽视经济活动的“空间”（Krugman，1991），但作为经济发展诸多结构性变化的重要表现之一，城市化过程一直受到发展经济学的关注。根据发展经济学的经典定义，经济发展的涵义包括两个方面：一个是经济增长，主要是指经济产出、人均产出的增长过程，通常用人均GDP或人均GNP等来表示；另一个是结构变化，主要是指在经济增长的过程中在各类产业的组成、劳动力行业分布以及各类生产要素和经济活动的空间分布等各个方面出现的结构性变化，“发展就是经济结构的成功转变”（Chenery et a1.，1975），“经济发展，除了人均收入的提高外，还应包括经济结构的根本变化”（吉利斯等，1996）。美国著名经济学家Chenery根据对100多个国家经济发展轨迹的考察归纳出10个基本的结构变化过程。其中，劳动力的行业分布和人口的城乡分布（城市化）是两个基本的结构转变过程。虽然“空间”和“区域”没有清晰地、具体地出现在发展经济学的视野里，但关于城市化的研究、关于国别比较的研究已经深深打上了空间和区域的烙印。
