Author Description

结果，大多数上这些课的学生没学到什么知识。上课6个月之后，学生们参加基本经济学知识测试，他们的表现比从没上过概论课的学生好不了多少。真是丢脸啊！一门收了几千块钱学费的课程，居然没创造任何价值，这说得过去吗？
学生们似乎连最基本的经济学原理都没弄懂。如果你上过经济学课程，至少听说过“机会成本”这个词吧。从事一项活动的机会成本，是指你为了从事这件事而放弃的其他事情的价值。
举个例子，假设你赢得了一张美国大歌星埃里克.克莱普顿（Eric：Clapton）今晚演唱会的免费门票。注意，你不能转售。可另一美国大歌星鲍勃.迪伦（BobDylan）今晚也在开演唱会，你也很想去。迪伦的演唱会票价为40美元。当然，你别的时候去看他的演出也行，但你的心理承受价格是50美元。换言之，要是迪伦的票价高过50美元，你就情愿不看了，哪怕你没别的事要做。除此之外，看两人的演出并无其他成本。试问，你去看克莱普顿演唱会的机会成本是多少？
去看克莱普顿的演唱会，唯一必须牺牲的事情就是去看迪伦的演唱会。不去看迪伦的演唱会，你会错失对你来说价值50美元的表演，但同时，你也省下了买迪伦演唱会票所需支付的40美元。所以，不去看迪伦演唱会，你放弃的价值是50-40=10（美元）。如果你觉得看克莱普顿的演唱会至少值10美元，那你就应该去看；要不然，就去看迪伦的演唱会。

Introduction

当我开始教经济学概论的时候，有位资深同事向我建议说，每堂课正式开始之前，不妨先讲个笑话。他解释说，这能带给学生们一个好心情，好让他们更容易接受后面的正课内容。可惜我一直没采纳他的建议。我倒不是觉得他的话有什么错。我只是觉得，每回都找出一个相关的笑话太难，可要是讲不相关的笑话，又显得有点低级趣味。

一位女士在洛根机场下了飞机，抓着行李，饥肠辘辘地跳上了一辆出租车，想找一家好点的海鲜店。“带我去一个能吃到新鲜鱼片的地方。”①她告诉司机。
司机扬起眉毛转过身，对女士说，“我还是头一回听人用过去完成虚拟时态这么说。”
