Author Description

菲利普·科特勒，西北大学凯洛格管理学院营销学杰出教授。以营销大师而闻名的科特勒受到过严格的经济学训练，他在芝加哥大学获得经济学硕士学位，师从诺贝尔奖得主米尔顿·弗里德曼，此后，又在麻省理工学院师从诺奖得主保罗·萨缪尔森和罗伯特·索洛，获得博士学位。他出版的著作超过50本，包括为畅销的《营销管理》。他现在居住在芝加哥。

郭金兴，南开大学经济研究所副研究员，美国密苏里大学访问学者，台湾东吴大学客座研究员，经济学博士。长期从事经济发展与中国经济问题研究，主持课题两项，省部级课题一项，2008~2014年主持"南开-潇湘晨报指数"研究，出版《房地产虚拟性及其波动研究》《资本理论与货币理论》《〈就业、利息和货币通论〉导读》著作三部，翻译阿瑟·刘易斯的《经济增长理论》。

菲利普·科特勒（Philip Kotler）1931年出生于美国，是西北大学凯洛格管理学院荣誉教授，全球闻名的管理学家，被誉为"现代营销学之父"。2005年，《金融时报》面向全球25个国家的1000位企业高管，调查最具影响力的营销大师，科特勒排在彼得·德鲁克、比尔·盖茨和杰克·韦尔奇之后，位居第四。《金融时报》这样评价科特勒，"在任何一部有关管理学或营销学大师的论著中，至少有一章要论及科特勒的贡献"。

在资本主义形成与发展的数百年中，受到的批判至少与赞誉一样多。本书指出的资本主义14个弊端，前人都曾不同程度地论及，如贫困问题、收入差距、环境问题、经济周期、狭隘的自利主义、追逐消费、目光短浅、唯利是图、政治腐败，如此等等。与以往的批判相比，本书的新意主要在于以下三点。一是在新时代背景下，分析老问题出现的新动向，依据最新的数据和材料，梳理有关问题的新观点、新思想以及解决问题的新方法。二是注重从微观的角度，尤其是从作者所擅长的企业领域出发，对这些问题进行重新思考，比如收入不平等、政治腐败和环境问题，与企业利用避税手段来逃避税收、通过游说活动来影响政府政策、避免承担由于负面外部性造成的社会成本等问题息息相关。从企业层面，深刻了解问题产生的微观机制，也有助于提出行之有效的解决方案。三是作者既分析资本主义问题所在，也在试图系统地提出解决方案，希望能使之有所改进。
在实践中，资本主义形态各异，从近百年的发展历程来看，虽有起伏，但社会主义的成分和因素一直呈增长的趋势，无论主流的意识形态和执政的政府是否明确承认这一点。资本主义的问题也一直存在，并演化出新的表现和特征。
近百年的历史还证明，市场经济是促进经济增长、增进民众福利的有效方式，包括中国在内的新兴市场国家的崛起，也印证了这一点。市场经济具有不同的形态，并且长期绩效也存在很大差异。市场经济制度也需要不断地发展和完善，才能适应新形势，解决新问题。虽然本书以美国经济为主要背景，但是书中涉及的很多问题，是市场经济的共性，在我们国家也有不同程度的存在，有关的分析也不妨借鉴。
译稿根据美国管理协会（American Management Association，AMA）2015年的版本译出。译文尊重作者原意，以保持原著风貌，但需要说明的是，本书并非严谨的学术论著，论据与观点难免存在有失偏颇之处，译者对作者表达的观点，也并非全部认同。由于译者水平所限，译稿难免有疏漏之处，敬请读者予以指正。
