《新区域经济学（第三版）》：
1.聚集性循环累积因果链和区位优势的自我强化
要不断地自我强化某一区位的优势，则必然形成自我强化的聚集性循环累积因果链。这种循环累积因果链是提高经济增长率→提高收入水平→扩大市场份额→增强区位引力→提高经济增长率，这一过程是循环往复而形成的。下面我们暂时不考虑劳动力因素，只考虑知识资本转移情形下的某一区位优势的自我强化过程。
首先，产业聚集与经济增长率之间的关系，也就是产业聚集是否提高经济增长率。当两个区位达到长期稳定均衡时，不管资本的空间分布如何，单位资本的收益率在两个区位是相同的，要不然，资本继续向收益率高的区位转移，直到两个区位的资本收益率相等为止。新增长理论告诉我们，经济增长的源泉是知识资本；新经济地理学理论告诉我们，经济增长率与知识资本溢出效应和人口禀赋成正比，也就是说，如果知识资本溢出效应越大，则均衡经济增长率越大，知识资本的溢出效应提高了均衡经济增长率；新古典理论告诉我们，人口增长率与自然经济增长率是同步的。我们知道，知识资本的空间溢出是遵循衰减规律的，也就是说，知识资本的溢出效应随空间距离的增大而逐渐减弱。我们先考虑一下两个区位分别拥有一定份额的产业时的情况，此时两个区位所使用的知识资本除了本区位所生产的一部分知识资本以外，还有对方区位生产的知识资本溢出来的部分，此时对方知识资本溢出到本区位就遵循溢出效应衰减规律，也就是对方的知识资本不可能全部被使用，一部分知识资本在溢出过程中损耗了。因此，两个区位都拥有一定份额产业时的知识资本溢出效应较弱，此时均衡经济增长率较低。但如果某一区位拥有大多数产业或所有产业都聚集在某一区位，则在知识资本溢出过程中损失的部分较少或知识资本的溢出效应很大，因此不考虑与人口增长率相关的自然经济增长率，则产业聚集在某一区位时的均衡经济增长率最大。由此，我们可以得出很重要的结论，即产业聚集提高经济增长率。其实，与产业分布模式相关的是经济增长方式问题，如果产业是均匀分布的，则此时的经济增长方式为均衡增长方式；如果产业分布是非均匀的，如产业聚集在一个区位或一个区位所拥有的产业份额较大，则此时的经济增长方式为非均衡增长方式。我们知道，非均衡增长方式可以提高经济效率，因而可以提高经济增长率，这就是欠发达国家或地区开始工业化时都采取非均衡增长策略的根本原因。可以看出，实际情况的确如此。
其次，经济增长率与收入水平之间的关系。如果产业分布为对称分布，也就是均匀分布，则此时两个区位名义收入和实际收入都相等。但因受到外生冲击，这种对称分布被打破时，名义收入和实际收入开始发生变化。此时，产业聚集区的居民不仅获得劳动报酬，同时也获得资本报酬，而产业迁出区的居民由于没有资本份额或资本份额很小，只获得劳动报酬，或者获得劳动报酬和极小部分的资本报酬。由于我们假设两个区位的劳动力禀赋是相等的，因此产业或资本聚集区居民的名义收入水平高于资本或产业迁出区居民的名义收入水平。因此，一个区域产业份额（或资本份额）越多，则名义收入水平也就越高。同时，如果两区位产业分布不均匀，则产业聚集区因生产的产品种类量多，从另一个区位输入的产品种类较少，支付较低的成本，因而总体价格水平较低，这又说明生活成本指数较低。生活成本指数较低意味着在相同的名义收入情况下，实际收入水平较高。这样，高名义收入水平和高实际收入水平一起，使得产业聚集区位的实际收入水平高于产业稀疏区位的实际收入水平。这样，我们可以得出一个很重要的结论，即国民收入区际分配取决于产业份额，产业份额越大，所获得的收入越多。这就是我们在导言部分所提出的国民收入分配取决于资源份额的基本原理。这种高收入水平就成了区位的主要引力。
