相对于传统的交易方式，第三方支付有效地保障了货物质量、交易诚信、退换货要求等问题。在整个交易过程中可以对交易双方进行监督和约束，其实质是为买卖双方提供了信用担保。
5.支付宝不断推出新业务以满足网络消费者的要求
支付宝2011年推出了代付功能和电视支付功能。代付功能，即用户在网站挑选购物时，在支付方式里选择支付宝并设置代付。而代付人收到申请后在支付宝网站完成付款即可，如代付人开通手机支付，还能手机回复短信完成付款。从而方便了未开通网银或账户内无余额的用户，通过其他有支付能力的用户付款，相当于接入一个智能网银；电视支付则是随着电视淘宝的推出而产生的。消费者在通过电视淘宝购物时可以选择使用支付宝或者货到付款。如果使用支付宝在首次购买时，设置好自己支付宝的账号和密码，以后就可以直接支付。
