1制订目标并按照优先程度排列
很多主管忙得就像一阵旋风，不停地从一个会议赶往另一个会议，忙着解决一场场危机，而从来不去思考为什么一天天如此忙碌的根源。很多专业人士喜欢这种忙碌的感觉，而不习惯认真思考怎样根据事情的优先性来规划自己的时间表，我们可以将这种典型作法描述为“准备、开枪、瞄准”。另外一些人则忙于公司交待的任务或解决其他人提出的“紧急”请求而自顾不暇。
结果，这些热情努力、积极上进的人们几乎没时间考虑有助于实现自己最高目标的活动。他们才华出众，却经常抱怨完成重要工作的时间远远不够用。
不论你渴望的职业目标是什么，首先，从事任何一项活动之前都要认真考虑自己为什么要做这件事，要想从中获得一个什么样的结果。本章里，我要通过一个练习来帮助你确定优先性最高的目标，教会你如何判断你目前时间表中的最优先事项是否正确。这一过程分为六步：
（1）写下你为了实现职业目标而正在做或正打算做的所有事情。

（6）理解和列出实现目标时间不够用的原因。
把要做的所有事项都写下来
取一两张纸，写下工作中需要做的所有事情，包括工作职责中每天或每周都要做的例行工作，比如提交和审阅报告，另外，还包括上级分配给你的所有长期项目。
不要就此打住。如果你把所有时间都花在上级要求解决的危机或指派的任务上，等于你在原地踩水。要想往前走，还必须考虑你想要做什么。这可能是长期目标；例如，提升职业水平，或者是短期目标，如学习新的技巧或认识更多的同行。在记着上司交给任务的那张纸上，把这些特别想做的事情也写上去。把任务和目标分开写没有关系。先把任务和目标写下来，我们在第二步里进行组织。

在列自己的任务事项的时候，越全面越好，为的是把你所有的任务和目标列出来。在本章接下来的篇幅里，你将评估这些事项是否重要。在列举过程中，如果有想不起来的内容，那也没有关系，请继续往下读。本章下面的内容将帮助你回忆。
按照完成这些事情所需时问的长短来组织所有事项
接下来，将你列出的所有事项按照时间分成三个大类：职业目标（5年以上）、近期目标（3～24个月）、当前目标（1个周期或更短）。有的目标不能完全划归在一个类别里，就具体情况具体考虑：如果相对来说目标的实现较快、较简单的话，将它划归到时间较短的目标中；相反，如果目标的实现需要时间较长、过程较为复杂的话，将其划归到时间较长的目标中。
·职业目标：这里都是至少需要大约5年来实现的长期目标。例如，年轻法学院毕业生的职业目标可能是成为一位有资格出庭辩护的辩护律师、某家公司的一般代理人或某个大型公司的合伙人，甚至是兼任这三个角色。
