Author Description

舒国治，一九五二年生于台北。原籍浙江。是六十年代在西洋电影与摇滚乐熏陶下成长的半城半乡少年。七十年代初，原习电影，后注心思于文学，曾以短篇小说《村人遇难记》备受文坛瞩目。一九八三至一九九〇，七年浪迹美国，此后所写，多及旅行，自谓是少年贪玩、叛逆的不加压抑之延伸。而文体自成一格，文白相间，简淡中深富雅韵，论者咸认与他的清简度日有关。常人忽略的清苦生活之美，最受他无尽窥探与咏颂。
著有《理想的下午》《门外汉的京都》《流浪集》《台北小吃札记》《穷中谈吃》等。

懒，是我这辈子最大的缺点，也可能是这辈子我最大的资产。因为懒，太多事皆没想到去弄。譬似看报，我从没有看报的习惯（当然更不可能一早去信箱取报纸便视为晨起之至乐）。不但不每日看，也不几个月或几年看一回。倘今天心血来潮看了，便看了。没看，断不会觉得有什么遗漏之憾。有时，突然想查一些旧事了，到图书馆找出几十年前的旧报纸，一看竟是埋头不起，八小时十小时霎间飞过。这倒像是看书了。
我对当日发生的事情，奇怪，不怎么想即刻知道。
我对眼下的真实，从不想立时抓住。我总是愿意将之放置到旧一点。
但不想每天时候到了便去摸取报纸的真正理由，我多年后慢慢想来，或许是我硬是不乐意被这小小一事（即使其中有“好奇”的廉价因素）打坏了我那原本最空空荡荡的无边自由。

有时蓦然回头看自己前面三十年，日子究竟是怎么过过来的，竟自不敢相信；我几乎可以算是以赌徒的方式来搏一搏我的人生的。我赌，只下一注，我就是要这样的来过——睡。睡过头。不上不爱上的班。不赚不能或不乐意赚的钱。每天挨着混——看看可不可以勉强活得下来。那时年轻，心想，若能自由自在，那该多好，即使有时饿上几顿饭，睡觉只能睡火车站，也认了。如今五十岁也过了，这几十年中，竟然还都能睡在房子里，没睡过一天公园，也不曾饿过饭，看来有希望了，看来可以赌得过关了，看来我对人生的赌注下在胡意混自己想弄的而不下在社会说该从事的，有可能是下对了。虽然下对或下错，我其实也不在乎。行笔至此，怎么有点沾沾自喜的骄傲味道。切切不可，戒之戒之。倒是可供年轻人有意坚持做自己原意必做之事的浅陋参考也。
有人或谓，当然啊，你有才气，于是敢如此只是埋头写作，不顾赚钱云云。然我要说，非也。我那时哪可能有这种“胆识”？我靠的不是才气，我靠的是任性，是糊涂。但我并不自觉，那时年轻，只是莽撞地要这样，一弄弄了二三十年。
只能说，当时想要拥有的东西，比别人要缥缈些罢了。
好比说，有些人想早些把房子置买起来，有些人想早些把学位弄到，有些人想早些在公司或机关把自己的位置安顿好。而我想的，当年，即使今日，全不是这些。
十多年前，有个朋友与我聊起，他说：“有没有想过，倘有一个公司愿请你担当某个重任，如总经理什么的，年薪六百万之类，但必须全心投入，你会去吗？”我说：“这样的收入，天价一般高，我一辈子也不敢梦见，实在太可能打动我了，但我不会去。为什么？因为我是台湾人；这工作做了十年，不过六千万，六千万在台湾，买房子还买不到像样的；若是不买房子，根本用不了那么大的钱；六千万若拿来花用，享受还只是劣质的。故这六千万，深悉台湾实况的人，根本不用太看得上眼。更主要的，我会想，我的四十五岁至五十五岁这十年，是一生中最宝贵、最要好好抓住的十年，我怎么会轻易就让几千万给交换掉呢？”
时光飞逝，转眼又是十年。我今天想：我的五十五岁至六十五岁的这十年，因更衰老了，更是一生中最宝贵、最要好好抓住的十年，更不会做任何的换钱之举了。
钱，是整个台湾最令人苦乐系之悲欢系之的东西；我这么穷，照说最不敢像前述的那么大言不惭，也非我看得开看得透，这跟不洗澡一样，你只要穷惯了脏惯了，并一径将那份糊涂留着，便也皆过得日子了。我常说我银行存款常只有一千多元，这时我注意到了，接着两三天会愈来愈逼近零了，然总是不久钱又进来了。我总是自我解嘲，谓：“人为什么要把别人的钱急着先弄进自己的户头里？为什么不能让他人先替你保管那些钱？”
倒像是某首蓝调的歌名所言：I love the life I live, I live the life I love.（我爱我过的生活，我过我爱的生活。）
人要任性，任性，任性。如今，已太少人任性了。不任性的人，怎么能维持健康的精神状态？他随时都在妥协、随时在抑制自己，其不快或隐忍究竟能支撑多久？
自己要做得了主。
不会人云亦云，随波逐流。不会时间到了叫吃饭就吃饭、叫洗澡就洗澡，完全不倾听自己的灵魂深处叫唤。不会睡觉睡到没自然足够便爬起来。睡眠是任性的最佳表现，人必须知道任性的重要。岂不闻日谚：“愈是恶人，睡得愈甜。”吾人有时亦须做一下恶人。
