Book Abstract

第二节睡眠的意义
一、睡眠是健康的基础如果晚上没有睡好，白天就会感觉很疲倦，易怒，焦虑不安，精神难以集中，反应迟钝，就像被冰冻了一样。如果不解决睡眠问题，健康状况就会不断下降，而且性格也会变得抑郁、易怒。
慢波睡眠是促进生长、消除疲劳和恢复体力的主要阶段。此期生长激素分泌明显增加，尤其是第四阶段深睡睡眠，达到个体24小时最高点。推测慢波睡眠与人的生长发育有关，可提高人体免疫力，促进全身细胞的新陈代谢，恢复体力。有证据表明，慢波睡眠是大脑相对原始的静息状态，而快波睡眠则是大脑高度进化的主动功能状态，此期脑内蛋白质合成增加。推测快波睡眠与幼年动物神经系统的成熟有关，并有利于建立新的突触联系，促进和巩固记忆活动，恢复精力。由于慢波睡眠在前半夜的比例较高，快波睡眠在后半夜的比例较高，故有“前半夜睡得好，身体好；后半夜睡得好，心情好”的说法。
良好的睡眠是健康的基础。总的来说，良好的睡眠有以下几个方面的作用：1.消除疲劳。恢复体力睡眠在生理方面一般表现为：嗅、视、听等感觉功能暂时减退；骨骼肌反射运动和肌紧张减弱；伴有一系列自主神经功能的改变，如血压下降、心率减慢、瞳孔缩小、尿量减少、体温下降、代谢率、呼吸变慢、胃液分泌增多而唾液分泌减少、发汗功能增强等。睡眠不仅可以消除疲劳，而且在睡眠过程中身体必要的物质又重新获得补充，以保证人体有足够的精力进行活动和工作。所以说，睡眠是消除身体疲劳的主要方式，睡眠不足者，很容易感到疲乏、无力、体力不支。
2.养护大脑。恢复精力睡眠是大脑的暂时性休息过程，是一种保护性抑制。脑科学研究显示，睡眠不仅仅是身体活动的停止，更是维持高度生理功能的适应行为和生物防御技术所必需的状态。拥有良好的睡眠，觉醒时才能高度发挥大脑的信息处理功能。睡眠不足者，表现为烦躁、激动或精神萎靡，注意力涣散，记忆力减退等；研究发现，连续睡眠剥夺严重者会导致幻觉。而睡眠充足者，精力充沛，思维敏捷，办事效率高。
3.增强免疫力。康复机体人体在正常情况下，能对侵入的各种抗原物质产生抗体，并通过免疫反应将其清除，保护人体健康。睡眠使人体的免疫系统在睡眠过程中得到某种程度的修正和加强，睡眠最深的时候，也是身体内免疫物质释放增多的时候，能提高免疫力，使身体防病、抗病及康复的能力增强。睡眠不好的人，容易患病。
4.促进生长发育睡眠与儿童生长发育密切相关，婴幼儿在出生后相当长的时间内，大脑继续发育，这个过程离不开睡眠；且儿童的生长速度在睡眠状态下增快，因为睡眠中血浆内生长激素可以连续数小时维持在较高水平。研究表明：痴呆儿童的快波睡眠时间比同龄的正常儿童要少，老年性痴呆病人快波睡眠明显减少，所以应保证儿童充足的睡眠，以保证其生长发育。
5.延缓衰老，促进长寿近年来，许多调查研究资料均表明，健康长寿的老年人均有一个良好而正常的睡眠。人的生命好似一个燃烧的火焰，而有规律燃烧则生命持久；若忽高忽低燃烧则使时间缩短，使人早夭。睡眠时间恰似火焰燃烧最小的程度，因此能延缓衰老，保证生命的长久。
6.保护心理健康睡眠对于保护人的心理健康与维护人的正常心理活动都是很重要的。因为短时间的睡眠不佳，就会出现注意力涣散的状况；而长时间睡眠不佳者很容易出现焦虑、抑郁等情绪，甚至发展成焦虑症、抑郁症。
7.有利于护肤美容觉醒状态下，促进生长的因子分泌较少；进入慢波睡眠后，促生长因子分泌明显升高。在促生长因子的作用下，生长激素大量分泌，促进皮肤毛细血管的循环，使面部皮肤细胞新陈代谢加快，保持皮肤红润、有光泽，能起到美容养颜的作用。
二、在睡眠中学习记忆，是我们每个人每天都在进行着的一种生理和心理活动。睡觉时也能记忆、学习吗？一项最新研究显示，在入睡前学习的单词，会在睡眠中被大脑有关部位强化记忆，醒后反而比刚学完时记得更清楚。
英国约克大学等机构研究人员在《神经科学杂志》上报告说，他们请两组志愿者学习一些研究人员自行发明的新单词。其中一组志愿者晚上学习，学完后立即测试他们的记忆效果，然后让他们在实验室入睡，次日早上醒来后再次进行测试，结果发现早上的测试结果比刚学完时还要好。另一组志愿者则早上学习，经过同样的时间间隔后在晚上测试，则没有这种记忆增强的效果。
研究人员还监测了第一组志愿者在睡眠中的脑电波变化，结果发现出现“睡眠梭形波”更多的人，睡眠中记忆增强的效果更好。“睡眠梭形波”是睡眠中会不时出现的一种脑电波形式，它的出现反映了大脑各部位之间正在传递信息。因此，出现“睡眠梭形波”更多的人，大脑在睡眠中将新单词整合进原有知识储备中的力度更大。
因为睡觉时不会发生后摄抑制，睡眠的各个阶段对促进记忆巩固起着积极的作用。其中的一个阶段就是快波睡眠。在这个阶段，人会做梦，在梦中，人的眼睛无意识地在眼皮下面转动，而这时大脑则有快速、频繁的电波通过。人们认为，这种电波的作用是神经线路畅通的“润滑剂”：它作用于尚处于不稳定状态的线路（短期记忆取决于这种线路），并能将这种线路转变为更为稳定的线路，这是由于形成了新的突触。快波睡眠与记忆之间的关系已由对小自鼠的实验得到了证实：如果不让小白鼠有这种睡眠，那么它就会把实验前刚刚有的经历忘掉。还有一个例子就是抗抑郁症的药物，它能减少快波睡眠的数量。从而对记忆造成负面的影响。
睡眠可以提高人的创造力和学习能力。良好的睡眠能够使人保持清醒的头脑，这是提高效率、取得好成绩的先决条件。它比把书本放到枕头底下的形式主义做法，或在考试前夕通宵苦读，效果要好得多。另外，下午一般是人一天当中状态最低迷的时候，这时候，最好的办法是小睡一会儿。如今，打盹儿的英文说法——“Power-Nap”已经成为一个广为人知的流行词，它的本意是“加油”，用在这里非常贴切。人们常常把睡眠称为增强记忆力的灵丹妙药，科学研究已经证明，睡眠的确是巩固人的记忆力、并对记忆力进行整理分类的过程。

尽管通过此书，对睡眠的重要性和改善失眠的多种有效技巧会有详细的了解，但只看却不为之付诸行动的话，与制定强大的计划，却不了了之的行为一样，不会有所收获。本书肯定会为寻找人生幸福而不断谋求改变的你，带来强大的力量，只要你的意志够坚决，以后的人生就会更上一层楼。
