Author Description

Book Abstract

我们会在下一章探讨由联结带来的共鸣连接过程，因此，现在就让我们专注于内在感知元素：接受他人。在联结下，我们关注他人发出的信号，把来自他们内心状态的能量和信息之流深刻地嵌入我们自身的神经系统中。关键在于我们的感知并不局限于针对物质世界的五种感觉，以及相应执行于后皮质区的看、听、尝和触碰功能。相反地，接收别人内心世界的信息是一个把信息往下推动的过程，它发生在我们的皮质下，在初始意识下，而且其结果也是内嵌在皮质下的。我们吸收了对他人内心世界的感受，从而改变自己的内心状态。无论这个海绵通路是如何工作的，也不管是不是通过镜像神经元，很明显地，我们都会快速地从皮层感知转向皮质下反应。
当我们的身体模拟其他人的内在状态时，皮质下的神经兴奋模式就会发生改变。身体对应部位——肌肉和脏器，比如心、肺、内脏——与脑干、边缘系统相互作用，于是产生了我们当下的存在状态。从身体、脑干、边缘系统这些皮质下区域发出的信号是我们“认识”他人内心世界的通道。假如海绵（镜像）神经元是接收器，那么，皮质下区域就是放大器。这些皮质下转变正是我们与其他人的联结时所产生的内在变化。
值得注意的是，联结不一定都带有目的性。有些时候，我们接收到其他人的信号之后，会自发地吸收其内在状态并改变自身状态。当然，我们也会通过刻意关注别人的非言语信号来“认清它们来自何方”。如果我们无法对自身内在的皮质下沟通保持开放，哪怕倾尽全力、全神贯注地与他人联结，我们也将错失对其结果的觉察。假如我们专注地接收了外在世界的非言语信息，却不能对自身内在状态保持开放，那么我们也无法对对方感同身受。
联结的第一阶段是关注其他人发出的信号。其基本假设如下：镜像神经元发出一组神经元兴奋模式，经由脑岛向下传递，引起皮质下边缘系统、脑干及身体部位的变化。这是第一阶段，称为模拟（simulation）。接下来，这些皮质下状态的转变会向上传递，最终以相反方向再次经过脑岛到达前额皮质中间部位。
